Like getting a proper driving test when you reach a certain age and then every five years after. That should be mandatory for everyone.

What if you have no interest in driving, though? I can walk and take the bus everywhere, I don't need to spend money on a car and gas.

Granted, if you don't plan on driving, then no, because there is no point. I don't drive often, but I still do. My grandmother never learned how to drive.

I don't know if I like the idea of a 5-year retest period- that sounds like a major inconvenience, especially for someone who doesn't drive very often but would prefer to keep their ability. (Remember that you have to have access to a car for the test and all)
