Recently I beat Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland for GBA for the umpteenth time and now I'm doing the Meta Knight playthrough... as for ROM hacks, I've been playing Super Demo World: The Legend Continues by FuSoYa (hard to believe SDWTLC is nearly 10 years old now ) "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

Do you think anyone will reach 700 posts in 24 hours on this board? I wouldn't try it now, but maybe eventually when we have enough members ;P "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

Overnight, we're expecting severe thunderstorms, so I'll make sure to unplug the computer and other important electronics beforehand... by 5am or so, it should be down to light rain though... "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

Ever try calling a drug store, supermarket, discounter, office supply store, home improvement store, etc. and try to find if something is in stock? I had a terrible experience with ShopRite's automated phone system, when all I wanted to do was ask if they had any bottles of Lady Gaga Fame in yet The thing kept cutting out, messing up, etc. (or maybe it's because I'm using a cell phone rather than a landline ) "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

Surprised I couldn't find one of these threads here... well, here we go, a useful freeware thread (please no warez, I don't want to get in trouble)
Web Browsers Google Chrome – world's fastest web browser, for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux Opera – another popular alternative to IE or Firefox Mozilla Firefox – the original alternative to IE, and the spiritual successor to Netscape Internet Explorer – comes with Windows, and is actually partly decent now compared to years ago Qupzilla - basically a WebKit version of Classic Firefox ;D SRware Iron - Like Chrome, but don't like the spying tactics? Try SRware Iron instead Multimedia VLC Media Player – one of the most popular ones, and my recommendation for videos Winamp – it really whips the llama's ass still a classic today, highly recommended Audacity – great for recording from radio/cassette to PC, recording voices, or converting audio between different formats ModPlug – fan of module music and want to make your own? ModPlug is your friend foobar2000 – another alternative to Winamp, supports many plugins K-Lite Codec Pack – an essential codec pack for those who work with audio and video frequently, comes with Media Player Classic Graphics Paint.net – excellent alternative to MS Paint, highly recommended for Windows users GIMP – steep learning curve, but a great alternative to Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro mtPaint – pretty good program, I use it often for pixel art, etc. Blender – the best free 3D modeling software, hands down Inkscape – open source alternative to Illustrator, highly recommended XNView – opens many types of images, include some very rare formats Irfanview - best freeware image viewer, also has some editing features in it Network Stuff Pidgin – best multiprotocol chat client, supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, IRC, etc. X-Chat 2 (aka YChat) – IRC client for Windows FileZilla – free FTP client, great for uploading websites or downloading from FTP servers XAMPP – run a web server off your home computer Vuze – best torrent client HexChat - another build of XChat for Windows Virtualization/Emulation Oracle VirtualBox – run a virtual machine of Windows, Linux, or other x86 operating systems WinUAE – Got Amiga? Mini vMac, Basilisk II, SheepShaver, PearPC – great for running classic Mac OS from 1.0 to 10.3.x, and of course their games DOSbox – run classic DOS games and even Windows operating systems (from 1.x to 3.11) on a modern PC System Utilities ImgBurn – my favorite image burning software, highly recommended Spybot - Search & Destroy – checks for spyware/malware and removes it IZarc – opens many obscure archive types as well as the most common ones 7Zip – the best freeware archiving/compression utility CPU-Z – queries hardware to show system information HW Monitor – monitors system voltages, temperatures, fan speeds, etc. Defraggler – a better alternative to the built-in Windows Defragmenter Recuva – recovers files that have accidentally been deleted from a flash drive or hard drive MalwareBytes – highly recommended in case of rootkits or other stubborn malware (be sure to keep a copy on a locked USB key too) "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

What are some of the most annoying things that you experience in video games? I have a few annoyances that often get on my nerves...
- Getting into another random battle right after taking one step after finishing one... sometimes happens to me in games like FF6 (OTOH, it can be a pain in Pokémon if you're looking for something to catch and you get no encounters for like 100 steps without a Repel) - Wasting a Cure spell and MP on a character that was low on HP and got killed before the spell could be used (resulting in a MISS over the character) - Pokémon: missing a one-hit KO by like 1 HP, getting the Max Potion or Full Restore, then getting the kill the second time... also "Oh no! The Pokémon broke free!" trying to catch a legendary/Chatot/Beldum/shiny, then either having to reset or accidentally killing it or getting it on the 49th out of 50 Ultra/Dusk Balls (oh, how I wish Dusk Balls existed in Emerald...) - General: glitchy cameras in older 3D games, platforms that fail to respawn (had that happen to me in a Sonic 2 hack once, and I had to drown myself in order to restart... as Super Sonic), dying twice or more due to the same enemy/trap/etc. "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

Posted by GreyMaria Chatot's catch rate is 30, the same as Dialga and Palkia... but I actually had better luck with Dialga than Chatot ;P "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

When using emulators, which keys do you typically use for the key bindings? Although nowadays, I prefer to use an Xbox 360 pad for emulators (I'm a recent convert to 360 pads, after using Logitech Dual Actions for years, which look like a PS2 controller), but I still sometimes fall back on the keyboard...
The D-pad is always assigned to the arrow keys (with a second player on Home/Delete/End/PgDn as needed), analog stick (N64/Dreamcast) or Atari/Coleco keypad on the numpad, Start on Enter, and any controller buttons on the left (for example, on Genesis, ASDQWE for ABCXYZ, and R for MODE; for SNES, I use XZSAQW for ABXYLR), and for Atari 2600, simply spacebar for the fire button and the arrows (for joystick) or mouse (for paddle) "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

FF4: Rydia, mainly because of her green hair and because I think summoners are badass
FF6: Tossup between Terra and Celes, it's hard to decide since there's so many good characters in FF6 FF7: Tifa <3 She was always my favorite, and still is my favorite overall FF series character... FF10: Yuna... isn't she just adorable? Love the short hair too... Lulu is another one because I like goth characters "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

Yeah, the N64 controller was quite ridiculous if you ask me... recently bought this Xbox 360 controller for stuff like the Saturn and N64 (still, I'll have to put the Z on the "Back" button which isn't the best spot but would still do the trick... I still have an old Logitech Wingman with 6 face buttons for Genesis and Saturn, because I hate having to map Y and Z to the shoulder buttons ) "Miracles happen, when you believe..."
