I downloaded Open Broadcast Software & the XSplit Broadcaster, the reason why I'm asking which one is better because some people I follow on Twitch have cool layouts & when a new person follows 'em you see some cool graphics. I wanna do that with my channel, I do plan to get a headset & a webcam too.

I wanna add this font on my channel when someone new follows me lol! Well that's it for now, thanks for any advice... ^_^

I have found that OBS is better.

Also I think you should try steaming on http://stream.me it's a really nice small community and everyone knows each other on there.

I've used both. I currently use Xsplit for my streams, but I used OBS extensively in the past.

You can do just about anything with either, but Xsplit has features I find useful over OBS, like screen capture on a small region (for bringing attention to something).

Is it worth a paid subscription? No. Not at all. I actually kinda regret paying $150 for a three year license. Because everything the subscription allows me to do is stream in 60fps mode (a waste of bandwidth), in 1080p and higher without a watermark (also a waste of bandwidth), have 12 canvases instead of four (whoopty fucking doo, I only ever use three of them anyway), and do direct capture from my Hauppauge (which provides a garbage frame rate, which can be outperformed with a spare monitor and fullscreen mode... Which is doable with the FREE version).

As for your question, you can do that with either. And it's most commonly done with a widget from NightDev. They have all the instructions you need and how to implement it on a canvas for either software.

Were you using Game Capture or Window Capture for the game source?

Xsplit needs a source for everything you want to have appear.

I don't think I used either, I'm such a n00b. Which one would you recommend?

Off Topic: I found this site & made an account, but I don't think it'll be big like Twitch... ^_^

That's why it didn't show anything. You didn't give it anything to pull the visuals from. I change what source type I'm using depending on what has better performance at the time.

Perhaps this isn't the best example since it's one of my more complex canvases, but it was easiest to draw the lines with that I could show game footage without changing a bunch of stuff around.

The colored lines were also easier to do than corresponding numbers and such.

The window regions are one large window, selected as a source twice, cropped and resized to show the full 3DS area. Obviously, you would only need one for most games.

The images and such are used to fill the black space and keep things visually interesting.

The chat is there because I like showing who/what I'm responding to in my commentary. Not necessary, but nice. I change its location based on the size and position of my footage. If my backdrop has changing colors and such, or (in the case of a full canvas footage field) I put a partially transparent black box behind it. If I wasn't pressed for time, I would go into more detail.

I hope this helps.

EDIT:

This one is more simple, only five pieces to it:
The emulator
The backdrop
My social media and such links
The chat
and the shadow behind the chat (a black square set to 50% opacity)
