Gosh, I haven't replied in awhile! I guess I have enough questions for me to answer then. ;)

Posted by Rydia
Q: Babababoo or babababababa? Wait what. Will you give my question thread activity? :(

Humanawaa! Gibbery do da zippidy day! Not sure how to respond now seeing how things changed since this reply.

Q: What is your favorite form of weaponry?

The mind, of course. With it, the whole world can change with the matter of a few words that come from it.

So what inspired ya to be a programmer?

Quite a few things but one of them being AB and SMW Central. I liked the software so much, I wanted to build a board of my own. But before I could, I joined another site which the sole programmer left so I began working on it and fixing bugs. I also learned a little about sercurity and such from him. I eventually decided on building my own from scratch or mostly that. Let's say it all started as a joke and grew from there. I'll answer it better in the next question which brings me to it.

I know I asked this in IRC but I am going to ask again since you gave such a great answer.

Where'd you come from anyway? More specifically, what led you here to Kafuka?

I'll copy it from the logs since I'm lazy and no need to reinvent the wheel. ;) It is quite huge so beware!

Jul 30 23:18:38 [@KP9000] Scrydan, where'd you come from, anyway?
Jul 30 23:20:43 [@Scrydan] It is a long story. I've lurked AB for the longest time, never really registering/posting. I found FuYoSa's site long ago back in 2000 or 2001. From time to time, I seen certain events and whatnot but never bothered registering due to being quite shy and whatnot.
Jul 30 23:21:59 [@Scrydan] After a certain time, I kind of stopped but back in 2008, I found another video and it reminded me of ROM hacking and decided to hack SMW. So I eventually registered at SMWC in early 2008 with id 2025.
Jul 30 23:23:51 [@KP9000] nice
Jul 30 23:23:52 [@Scrydan] At that time, I kind of lost track of certain things and events so...yeah. Eventually I learn some things and remembered AB. I still was too shy to register much else until 2010 when I began to register at more sites. It was around then I think I had some inspiration to code with PHP. Inspiration from AB and SMWC's board.
Jul 30 23:23:57 [@KP9000] glad to have you
Jul 30 23:25:08 [@Scrydan] I joined a community called Team Haunted which ran off of a board that was similar to AB in a way - it may have been edited by edit but yeah. Due to the absence of the sole programmer, I decided to have my hand at fixing the board.
Jul 30 23:26:16 [@Scrydan] Yeah, the community lasted maybe a year more or so but eventually I decided to make my own board from scratch on dimensionproject.com.
Jul 30 23:26:32 [@Scrydan] originally it was a joke too
Jul 30 23:29:03 [@KP9000] it looks like you're having a good time here
Jul 30 23:29:10 [@KP9000] we appreciate the time you put in
Jul 30 23:35:39 [@Scrydan] I wanted to make an "alternate dimension of SMWC" by copying HTML and coding every feature I knew of. (Basically, I got HTML, I coded how you'd expect it to work from scratch.) I did this a bit after 4-1-2010 when Kieran opened a alternate dimension up when the site hit its 10,000th user. I forgot to tell Kieran about it so...eh, it left quite a surprise to him. Not only that but due to a "takeover" event earlier (a joke, of course), I obtained HTML of some admin backend and created my own to be exactly like SMWC originally. I had such devotion and still do. It was fun while it lasted but eventually I shut it down to possible drama - even though none was resulting, it was a joke after all. Then I decided to scrap what I had and make it a real board. Slowly it got out of its Alternate Central joke form. That's somewhat of a history lesson of my board. Started as a joke and ended up perfecting my programming skills.
Jul 30 23:35:57 [@Scrydan] Main thing to gain from: I got quite the devotion to programming
Jul 30 23:37:15 [@Scrydan] So after awhile...I find myself wanting to code for someone other than myself.
Jul 30 23:37:36 [@Scrydan] Team Haunted was a fun experience.
Jul 30 23:39:20 [@Scrydan] Kieran one day offers to give me some trial to be a programmer but for some reason, I kind of choked due to how he was doing it. So in any case, that didn't work out so well because I felt quite intimidated.
Jul 30 23:39:47 [@Scrydan] he offered because seeing how I could code most of his board that took years in a matter of a month or so
Jul 30 23:40:18 [@Scrydan] Lots of time passes, I go from Superderek to Scrydan.
Jul 30 23:40:25 [@Scrydan] I get a lot more outgoing.
Jul 30 23:42:11 [@Scrydan] And then I decide to register on Board2 in the hopes to increase activity. But it doesn't seem to be working well. Through luck or whatever, I find the link to this place about a month or so later I think. 4 months maybe? I'm losing track of time now. Point is, I see this as a chance to give back to a board that has touched many people's lives, for better or worse.
Jul 30 23:43:05 [@Scrydan] I wonder how shy I would still be if it wasn't for all the effects it had?
Jul 30 23:43:37 [@Scrydan] It is hard to name them all.
Jul 30 23:44:39 [@Scrydan] Branches that create yet more until you finally get one part of the internet and to then a person behind the user.
Jul 30 23:45:14 [@Scrydan] So yeah, sorry for information overload.
Jul 30 23:45:26 [@Scrydan] almost a life story in a short go
Jul 30 23:45:28 [@Scrydan] lol
Jul 30 23:46:09 [@Scrydan] And yes, I am having a good time here. It is my hope to spread that as well.
Jul 30 23:46:41 [@Scrydan] Seeing people happy make me happy. New shiny features and possibilities make me even more happy.
Jul 30 23:46:58 [@KP9000] :)
Jul 31 00:01:11 [@Scrydan] I'm just hoping maybe someday certain things can be the way they were. It is understandable certain people will have their differences and grudges but if it isn't meant to be then I suppose it isn't. Would be nice if some people seen to reason and realized that sometimes both parties are wrong in their own way.
Jul 31 00:02:33 [@Scrydan] One thing at a time I suppose. ;)

Granted but you are caught and eaten by a very hungry fishing family.

I wish I had infinite time to do the things I want to do.

Most likely in the next week or so I'll slow but at least I won't stop like I did for that 5 day period.

What if I want to waste my time reading a title that may or may not rhyme while I mime eating a lime at the same time?

Well of course it does. ;)

It mentions what do you often find yourself enjoying. Like do you enjoy putting spice into pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, etc, or does everything seem to include sweets or some combination of the above.

There's a lot of options and it is different for many people.

It is due to it being directly htmlval'ed now due to some old change that somehow made its way in the update. My last changes to profile.php didn't make it so it appears a few broken things are the result.

It was like that for awhile now but I just now noticed it using the bold tags. Probably will just remove them all together and use something better.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot that. I added a privacy option at my board to be like public/registered/staff which shows to those as shown in that list. So if we do make that option, it should be either public/registered/staff.

And if users really don't want their email known then they can set it to staff. So at least staff can contact them and such.

This should be addressed soon. I'll edit this when I find the problem. In the meantime, I'll PM myself a few times and lower the pagination requirement so I can test this.

Thank you for your report. :)

Oh I thought I'd bring this up.

What is everyone's stance on multiple files separating different parts of a system?

Well, more to the point, files like private.php, showprivate.php, sendprivate.php.
At the very least, I think private.php and showprivate.php could be combined into private.php.

What I do not mean are files like thread.php and forum.php as they are quite big already and it doesn't "feel right". Not sure how to explain exactly but yeah. I hope some of you get what I mean.

I also notice that I comment a lot more often on videos than I used to.

I usually like videos and rarely dislike any. If I don't like it, I either stop or don't click anything. I'm not too fond of the dislike button as it is, even for one I generally would probably click dislike.

I actually miss the old star system since there's more in between than just like or not liking it.

Gywall is unoriginal? This is such a tragic misunderstanding. It is original to purposefully be unoriginal or is it unoriginal to be original?

So today I've been on my old computer and found like a lot of awesome old files to go through. The hard part ahead still remains which is to clean both this computer and the other to improve my life a bit better by not having to deal with so much clutter.

I hope to turn that other computer into a server of sorts. It has been on my mind for quite some time. My current setup is a bit weird now.

Yeah, I'm mainly speaking of the ones that are like 100 lines or so and can pretty much be one file without being too huge.

Things like forum.php and thread.php should be separated because it would be too big and it would feel weird. So on my branch while fixing up more quotation, I'll also combine a few smaller files and archive more unused ones. I've began the process of the new RPG system but I'm not too sure on the methods we use for queries yet. I've seen some prepared ones and also some $sql->query($query) ones. I've even seen some raw mysql_query functions being used in some.

I'll assume we want prepared ones but my question is:
Is the object $sql really that needed or could we just instead use just a function? I could be wrong though but is it the only way prepared queries can be done with that being used?
I haven't messed with them that much so I wouldn't know 100%.

So here I am again, perhaps the mystery is among my kin.
I tried so hard to solve the puzzle. In the end, it was resolved by a mere guzzle.
Rhyming isn't so hard. Timing it and such could make me a bard.
So I ask you this fine day, to rhyme when you lay.
What I task you shouldn't be like swimming in a bay. That mask you shall wear will show you the way.
This confuses all who seeks, what ever you shall see in the creeks.

I could make a longer one. I probably should just for a laugh or two.
