right now i do web design, wordpress, and ad serving stuff at a web site with mma coverage and youtube link-dump-esque stuff. next month i'm going to be starting a new job doing php and frontend stuff at a luxury fashion e-commerce site. right after i graduated i did web/flash-based instructional courseware for a government subcontractor.
i think maybe i'm trying to build a really weird resume. |

i'm going to be apartment hunting in a couple months, so i've been browsing on craigslist to see what's available. since finding a good place is mostly about sorting out what you need to have, what you'd like to have, and what you can live without, i was wondering people enjoy the most about where they live right now.
for me right now, it's the fire escape outside my bedroom window and the fact that there's a shitload of trees in this neighborhood. when the weather's nice, i can hang out on the fire escape like a balcony (it overlooks the backyards of the first floor and other buildings). i've also had squirrels hang out on the fire escape when i'm inside. we've had staring contests. |

+1 on vvvvvv…i have to stay away from the music for that game or else it gets stuck in my head for DAYS.
silver surfer has some of my favorite nes music: <object style="height: 24px; width: 640px" width="640" height="24"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/RNpSPt30uSA?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="640" height="24"></object> also, pretty much all of the genesis sonic games have awesome music, especially sonic 3. |

Posted by Tomguy i do. if i so much as tap the window, those little bastards dart. COWARDS! another good thing about where i live now is my proximity to the trains. i only have to walk two blocks to get the train to go to work. i had some really cool downstairs neighbors, but their lease was up last month and they moved out. all the more reason to start looking for a place in a neighborhood where more of my friends live. |

Posted by Mesia does anyone like electric stovetops? i used to have an electric oven/stove at my old apartment and i can't even count how many omelets, cakes, and other cookable things it ruined. damn things heat the surface they're touching and not much else. |

oh man. i don't have any pets, but i want a dog really bad. unfortunately, i don't have the time or space for a dog at the moment, but i dream and gawk at other people's dogs. here's a picture of my girlfriend's mom's big old golden retriever that i dogsat one weekend:
the dog doesn't like the city, but she really likes me. she would bounce up and down with her front legs (she's got a bunch of hip problems in the rear legs) every time i came in from outside. |

re: post layouts.
it seems like a common way that users make post layouts is to include a css file with their modifications. why don't we include a field in the profile where they can enter a stylesheet? that way, it's stored on the board db and we can do any sanitization (ie. giving the user's posts a unique class name and prepending the css selectors with it) before displaying it. we could determine which users will have their post layouts displayed on a given page (ie. page x of thread y) and then have a php script that generates a single css file with all of the necessary layouts included. |

i used to be on the slightly chubby side in my early teens, but i lost a lot of weight in my freshman year of high school when i joined the wrestling team, and i've been slim (to varying degrees of skinniness) ever since.
exercise helps, but the amount of exercise it takes to work off a single big meal is a lot more effort than just eating something else in the first place. i like cycling, but that's does more for overall fitness than weight specifically. i think weight has the most to do with what/how much you're eating on a regular basis. i don't have a great diet, but i try to limit myself to one shitty meal a day, or eat only half of something bad at a time. i lost 10 pounds over the course of 2 or 3 months a couple years ago just by eating a yogurt for lunch during the work week instead of having a mediocre supermarket sandwich. of course, i've gained almost 10 pounds over the past year by eating out for both lunch and dinner more often. i'm 5'8" and ~140 pounds, so your mileage may vary. either way, huevos rancheros over a corn cake with sour cream and sriracha: mmm... |

i did my 2011 taxes yesterday last night, and it my federal return is waaaaay less (like hundreds of dollars less) than it was last year. for my 2010 taxes, i paid h+r block over $400 for 2 painful hours of their incompetent accountant muddling through their software, and this year i'm gonna end up paying 30 bucks to file federal and state through turbotax online (unless i change my mind and use something something else to do my taxes).
i know last year i got that 400 dollar "making work pay" credit, which isn't a thing this year, but other than that, i'm not sure how i got so much more back last year than i'm getting this year… anyone have any tricks/stories? do you use an accountant or do it yourself? |
