It's nice to see a few old names I hadn't seen in years (or like, half a decade o_O), although it hasn't been too long for most others (from board2 or Jul) :P

I remember phpBB being new around the time my board started, and EZBoard was still common, so it looked pretty good back then ... but I did get lazy before too long, if anyone remembers "AcmlmBoard 2.0" never getting anywhere until years later >_>

I had my yearly New Years day with family at my grandparents' (which is always nice), but nothing special otherwise ... and I never have anything planned for the year >_>

2011 wasn't bad, at least :)

It's been mostly the same for 4 years (see 2007), other than adding a few things around the computer ... and that cable clutter is nothing compared to mine:

- NES/SNES/PS2/PS3 power + A/V (that's 8)
- Screen power x2 + VGA x2 + DVI
- Computer power x2 + KVM (going to both), keyboard, mouse
- Sound system power + input and speakers (and headphones)
- Ethernet x3
- Composite + component going to the computer
- UPS and extension (with a dozen things plugged in)

It's quite a change from when I had a single computer and screen >_>

It's been a long time since I last posted mine, but here's one from yesterday ... (and for fun, here's one from almost exactly 10 years ago)

Or at least that's what I look like when I'm shaved and haven't gone for months without a haircut :P

Copy-pasted from my Jul layout, made about 2 years ago, which itself was barely a new version of my older layout from 2003 ... and it'll probably last another long while >_>

I'm mostly playing old games lately, or more precisely, racing them with others (I usually lose, but who cares as long as I'm having fun)

The last new game I played was Disgaea 4 when it came out (for about a month), then I played the whole series again for a while >_>

I do feel like I'm the only one still using "standard" ratio monitors (been considering widescreen for awhile but I have no idea what brands are good).
I have been using 1600x1200 until 2009. Full HD (1920x1080) becoming the standard is what made me jump on the wide screen bandwagon.
Basically you can't go wrong with Samsung, even monitors of lots of other brands (including the fancy Eizo) have Samsung panels.
I took the jump in 2007, but by adding a 1920x1200 next to my 1280x1024 :) (and it's a Samsung)

That was also the end of my "single computer and screen" era ...

Some zones have no DST, the south hemisphere's DST is inverted, Europe and America don't change at the same time ... so with the old setting, you'd have to fix it 2 or 4 times per year (and some older dates would be off by 1 or 2 hours) :P

But maybe showing each timezone's current time and sorting the list by that would make it easier ...

The oldest I clearly remember was in 1991, playing some games on my uncle's Macintosh Plus (9" 512x342 black&white screen, MacOS 6, 1MB RAM, 40MB disk space) ... then I got a computer at home the next year (Macintosh LC II, 12" 512x384 16bit, MacOS 7.0.1, 4MB RAM, 75MB disk space) and learned with that :)

I didn't have a PC until 1997, but had limited experience with DOS, Windows 3.1 and 95 before that ... and now it's the opposite, I've been a Windows user for 14 years and barely touched MacOS since then :P

I always try to make my layouts look good on 1024 pixels of width, for netbook and tablet compatibility.
mSprout's layout does not seem to fit that (BTW do we have blocklayout?).

PSH WHO USES NETBOOKS LOL
I don't, and have plenty of screen space, but I don't maximize my browser window :P

I sometimes use the 27" (1920x1200) for fullscreen games and stuff, the browser goes on the 19" (1280x1024), using the full width (minus taskbar) and leaving vertical space for IRC, so it's usually around 1150x700 ... I'm already hating that trend towards increased font sizes and padding while 1920x1080 is getting common, but 1024 minimum width is still fine for now >_>

Naw, it's because the first picture of myself I posted on here at age 15 is still floating around the internet (or on some people's computers)!
My old board backup still has the whole photo album, with everyone's pictures dating back to 2001-2003 or before, so I have it in there >_> (Foom even linked his old picture directly from there)

It's interesting to see everyone 10 years older now then looking back :)

I've been racing at Speedrunslive since last summer, and was never much of a speedrunner myself (except TAS) :P They usually race the same few popular games (like Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time), but sometimes there's blind races or other random games ... see the list of games I've raced, for example. And most races are streamed live, so anyone can watch (and chat) or make sure no one cheats ...

As for here, there was some talk about racing SMB3 a while ago, and I'd still be up for that and maybe more :)

- Core 2 Quad Q9400 3.00GHz (overclocked from 2.66)
- 4GB RAM (DDR3 at 1200MHz), 3.25GB usable on 32bit Windows
- 465GB disk space (500 billion bytes)
- Radeon HD 4850
- 27" (1920x1200) + 19" (1280x1024) screens
- Windows XP SP3

I got this (minus the screens) for about $1300 in March 2009, going about as high as I could without steep price jumps, and it's still good enough for me nearly 3 years later :) I don't play new PC games with high system requirements, I don't need more RAM or disk space (or even half of what I have), and new high-end CPU's are only twice as powerful at best ...

I'll probably do the same for my next computer too (in 1-2 years?) >_>

It could be useful during longer power shortages, hibernating when the UPS is about to run out so I wouldn't have to reboot and reopen everything ... and of course, for laptops when the battery is running out :)

But I've never used it, except once to see what it was :P

My board kept the layouts with every post because I actually wanted it like that (auto-updating is simpler and was later added as an option), and I fixed the database bloat later (with a post layout table), but this was before most layouts used CSS and sidebar hacks :P

And my old board backup is still mostly readable with all the broken links >_> (some of them still work, too)
