There was a very thin layer of snow today in the morning. Occasional sun and freezing cold temperatures. They're supposed to go a bit higher the next week, and we'll be getting rain and crap >_<

4h30 of chemistry practical work tomorrow. That's gonna be annoying for sure.

Speaking about that, the link to the Modern Art forum in the FAQ leads to index.php?id=1.

As a quick reply to Green-Kirby's request, until this info gets added to the FAQ, I'll post the names of the classes you must style to give your post sidebars a custom style:
* topbarXX_1: the cell that holds your username
* topbarXX_2: the cell that holds the 'Posted on foo' and link/reply/ID links
* sidebarXX: the cell that holds the sidebar contents
* mainbarXX: the cell that holds the post contents

Replace XX with your user ID. Style rules given to the cells themselves need !important or the board's theme will have priority over them.

ABXD themes aren't directly compatible with AB2 or AB1 boards, but they can be converted fairly easily.

What do you mean? I don't see much differences in the structures, aside from different class names and other minor differences...

~1997: using old Mac computers to play little games like Blobbo Lite. What was funny was that, since I couldn't read yet, I was remembering actions based on their positions in menus or filelists :P Reminds me of those menus that don't stay open unless you hold the mouse button. Good times, good times...

~2000: family-shared computer in the living room. My sister and I spent many times playing Rayman videogames on it. And it sucked when parents wanted us to turn sound/computer off just because they wanted to listen to their dramatic news (kids think that the only good TV channel is Cartoon Network).

~2005: the first computer that was to be mine and only mine. Old salvaged laptop, ridiculous CPU, 2D-only video card, 6GB HDD, its power was laughable compared to the living room computer. But I was happy. No more parents telling me to turn it off because they wanna watch TV. And I could enjoy the power of an Administrator account.

Eventually mom was able to salvage some more powerful laptops, so that I could play some 3D games like Rayman 2.

2006: getting my first desktop computer as a Christmas present. Core2Duo E6300, 160GB HDD, man it was a beast compared to those laptops (and even to the living-room computer, which was getting old).

Since then I kept upgrading that computer with components I'd either buy or get as Christmas/birthday presents. The first upgrade was to replace the provided video card (GeForce 7300LE-- sucked balls) by something more powerful. I chose a Radeon X1950Pro mostly because it was one of the rare powerful video cards that fit in one slot-- Dell's microBTX case would prevent double-slot video cards from fitting in.

The Radeon X1950Pro was noisy. But I never bothered to get a silent heatsink for it. Mainly because I don't care that much about computer noise. If it really gets to be a problem, I can always raise the volume. Also, homemade attempts at reducing a computer's noise generally don't work that well. I remember dad trying to insulate the living room computer's case with cardboard, and well, it didn't work that well.

Eventually, after several upgrades, I could rebuild the original computer (with the Radeon X1950Pro of course) to give it to my sister, who was using an upgraded version of the old living-room computer at that point. That computer couldn't be upgraded anymore, mostly because AGP was dying.

And there we are, in 2012. I'm not a full geek so I'm not upgrading my computer a lot, only upgrades occur when I get new components as presents or when I need to play some video game my computer can't handle.

IIRC, icon 218 is 'remove laptop from dock'. I recall seeing that button in Start menu on one of my old laptops as it was docked.

Fire alarms during freezing cold Winter suck. I remember that my elementary school loved doing that >_<

On the weather topic, it's getting slightly less cold. Around 0°C right now. Almost all the snow has molten here. There may be more snow Monday though, but it'll likely end up in rain.

Argh, math! Physics! My brain is melting.

Anyway, more seriously, I occasionally read the Minecraft wiki, when I need help about something ingame. I also occasionally add to the SM64DS page on TCRF.

I also read 'Désencyclopédie', a French wiki that gives funny definitions of things.

Learning regexes?

Haha. You can't learn them.

Yet I'm here, with knowledge of those :P

Though, I have to agree that they feel weird to beginners. When I first looked into some Acmlmboard code, I was puzzled at the postfilter regexes. But eventually there are some sites that do a good job at explaining all that crap.

At least Windows 8 isn't making signing-required-by-default for desktop applications... o_O

IMO, they may be planning on that. With Windows 8's Metro interface and its huge buttons all over the place, it seems obvious to me that they want to turn your PC into a giant tablet or phone. The signed bootloader thing reinforces this feeling.

Though, I won't speak for sure.

Weather is getting warmer this week. Around 8°C, like we'd get before that week of cold.

Today was sunny, too. It almost felt warm. This kind of weather makes me want to be in Summer :(

It's getting kinda weird right now. It's sunny, and in the morning it starts at like 2°C and then reaches 10°C in the day, to finally fall back to 2°C during night.

Bots can be really dumb. For instance, long ago, I added a fix on my board to prevent them from indexing all the memberlist combinations. Basically, bots don't see the option links. I have tested it and it works. And despite that, bots are still indexing different memberlist combinations they aren't supposed to be able to reach.

Anyway, perhaps the calendar should stop at like 1970, or 2000, or the year the board was founded. There isn't supposed to be events programmed before the launch of the board (AB1 supported programming events to show up in the calendar, idk if this board does), and it's just silly to look back in times where computers didn't even exist...

Perhaps birthdays and events could be unified somehow, so that the index page could show today's events alongside birthdays, or something in the like. And it would link to the calendar for a description of the event.

It'd also need an interface for managing the events. On AB1 you'd have to do that with PMA :P

God today sucked. Thermodynamics exam, thermodynamics practical work... I'm fucking sick of thermodynamics. And I pretty much failed epicly on both. >_<

The practical works last 4h30, which may seem insanely long, but you have so many crap to do that you can't even complete them unless you somehow manage to compress time.

More generally, in that stupid subject you keep computing values without even knowing their use. It's like, compute this, now congratulations, you computed a number that you're not going to use at all, and that doesn't even have a use irl.

Long story short, I don't want to hear about thermodynamics for atleast one month.
