So. Garoslaw, Ryous and I had discussed artistic skill recently. My take was that line art and coloring were two seperate skills, given that for example comic books tend to have two or three artists -- pencils, inks, colors, if the first two aren't the same person.

And so I decided to do some coloring practice on someone else's line art. Here's what I came up with so far:

Can madlibs be considered a generator? With all these different things to enter... personally I'd more readily consider it a generator if it only took the protagonist names and genders and rolled the rest from there.

Lately I've been mostly dogfooding Noxico, and playing either the MLP game or some jigsaws on my phone.

Actually, scratch "lately" and "mostly".

• Overworld should be editable on the server side, allowing alternate servers to have different locations.
• What's even the deal with full 3D? If at least the overworld is sprited, the game can stay very close to the show's style with lowered system requirements. The Gameloft game certainly did that right, IMHO.

Actually, regarding the 2D/3D thing, Gameloft uses 3D models for the ponies on 2D backgrounds. Even in the main town view.

As for range of customization, I think having all the usual body types (regular, foal, Carrot Cake, Cup Cake, Fleur de Lis/Luna, Big Macintosh/Fancypants, Snips, Snails) without further proportion tweak sliders could be enough, plus a whole bunch of mane and tail styles with one or two user-picked colors. Add coat and eye colors, eye styles, and the ability to upload a cutie mark or draw one in place, plus the presence of either wings or a horn, and I think you'd have enough options to keep everyone unique. Especially when you add accessories like sunglasses, DJ Pon-3's shades, hats, saddles...

Unique things like Celestia's body and mane style, Luna's mane, Rainbow Dash's mane, the Royal Regalia, the Elements of Harmony, and the ability to have both a horn and wings could be available only to admins and mods.

Yes, I included Rainbow's mane. You figure it out.

Eh... I can see how you'd get the idea, but I feel it'd be at least ten times as confusing as mood avatars. I feel like it'd sorta decouple the layouts, which are pretty recognizable, from the users.

Sure, you could argue about only changing the color schemes and imagery. But that's more like a guideline, and there's plenty layouts that are edited from others. Liliana's Fluttershy layout, for example, is edited from mine. By me, no less. Imagine for the moment she'd suddenly switch to a really dark variant because of a... moody topic she's writing about. Now look at my layout.

So yeah. Sounds like a bad idea.
