You sure you don't mean HeartGold?

She could, very well, mean Gold. It did exist on Gameboy Color.

Not everyone plays the most modern iteration of a game.

I just spent three hours putting together my new TV stand and get my setup back in order. That was a pain in the ass.

The new TV stand.

The PS3's cocked sideways because I was telling @Jay4gamers1 about the disk bay.

I decided to kick off my Pokemon Red Hard Mode challenge this afternoon. The stream ran for almost thirteen hours and I just got the Rainbow Badge from Totally-not-Erika.

Posted by Stream description
Rules of engagement:
1. Only the first Pokemon encountered on a route can be caught.
2. Every Pokemon caught must have a nickname
3. If a Pokemon faints, it is released at the first opportunity.
4. Battle mode is Set

Clauses:
If a Pokemon that has been on the party before appears again, a reroll is allowed for that capture.

If there is a dungeon within a town, it gets its own chance to add to the party.

EXAMPLES:
Silph Co is separate from Saffron City
Safari Zone is separate from Fuchsia City
Game Corner is separate from Celadon City
Unknown Dungeon is separate from Cerulean City

Instances of a Pokemon being FORCED upon the player do not count toward the Pokemon of the area.

Randomizer rules:
All Pokemon (wild, trained, gifts, trades etc), trainer classes, gym leader names), move sets, and item locations have been randomized.

Encounter rates are randomized at a 1:1 per area level, each area contains the same amount of Pokemon as in the original game, but are completely randomized.

Legendary Pokemon are not permitted for use by the player or opponents. All wild legendary Pokemon are marked as bounties.

Moves are updated to their Generation V type, power, and accuracy.

Types have also been modified to their proper effectiveness.

Pokemon requiring trades to evolve now evolve by reaching a certain level.

Current Roster:
Rounderp (Machoke) 33
Laera (Lapras) 30
Jay (Cloyster) 32
Phyresis (Kingler) 31

Current Reserve:
Oh Shit He (Kakuna) 25

I just wrapped up the stream for the night... Gotta be to work in less then seven hours and I need to at least attempt to take a nap. As far as progress goes, most of the seven hours I streamed were devoted to grinding. I'm only just now ready to face the Fuchsia Gym.

Current Roster
Jay (Cloyster) 41
Phyresis (Kingler) 41
Stu (Pidgeot) 41
ProJared (Vileplume) 40
Tongya (Lickitung) 40

Current Reserves
Oh Shit He (Kakuna) 25
Supersoakr (Squirtle) 20
Maryjane (Weedle) 28

New casualties (in order of meeting them):
-Laera (Lapras) Met on Route 6, beheaded by a bloodthirsty Scyther's Guillotine. She didn't deserve to die like that. Levels 12-35
-Rounderp (Machoke) Met on Route 8, having been critically wounded by a fellow Machoke's Drill Peck, he fell due to my hubris of forgetting the foe knew Quick Attack. I'm so sorry, my friend. Levels 19-36
-Benedict (Exeggutor) Met on Route 18, Outwitted by a cunning Arcanine that poisoned him with Twin Needle. So much potential lost. Levels 25-27
-The unnamed Hitmonlee that fled from me in the Safari Zone. In his haste to get away, he twisted his ankle and fell into one of the many small lakes. He drowned soon afterward. Level 24
-Sanic (Dugtrio) Met on Route 15 as a Diglett, you can probably still find pieces of his body scatted all over Route 14 where the Jolteon detonated. He wasn't fast enough. Levels 26-29
-Powderhead (Jigglypuff) Met on Route 14, popped like an overinflated party balloon by a Jump Kicking Flareon. Level 26
-Drako (Dragonite) Met on Route 12, frozen in a wintry tomb on the pier near the patch of grass I found him by a vengeful Haunter. Level 24

Just a question. Or rather two: How can you randomize moveset of trained pokémon that are used by gym leaders? And item locations?
Item locations weren't changed, just what they are.

The trained move sets are determined by the Pokemon's individual randomized set with influence from any TMs that trainer is programmed to have used. In other words, nothing is different.

Well, I finished things off.

I ended up having to run the League twice because I forgot Gen I doesn't save until "THE END" comes on screen.

I managed to make it through Unknown Dungeon fairly quickly thanks to emulator throttle, because fuck that encounter rate.

Phyresis killed Moltres in a single critical Rock Throw, so my final boss was totally anticlimactic.

The ending lineup:
Phyresis (Kingler) 62
Ol Lopper (Scyther) 60
Stu (Pidgeot) 60
Jay (Cloyster) 60

Casualties:
The unnamed Kabutops in Unknown Dungeon teleported away from Jared in utter fear of being captured. He also telefragged himself. Level 52
ProJared (Vileplume) Met in Pallet Town, burned to death by Ninetales' Fire Punch. Levels 15-61

Since I'm trying to flip my sleep schedule thanks to my new overnight position, I figured I would grab Thomas Was Alone from Playstation Plus.

I wound up 100%'ing it in about three and a half hours. I must say, it was a nice little puzzle platformer with a few fairly mind bending puzzles, at least for a partially sleep deprived mind.

The worst offender for rough puzzling has to go to 4-3, because I spent twenty minutes trying to wrap my head around pressing the switch. I'm almost certain I solved the puzzle in a way that wasn't intended.

Nice cheating with Mew. I always turn legendaries off in the randomizer.

I've been having issues with my recording from my Hauppauge in the realms of synchronization between audio and video feeds.

I know how it happens, I just can't seem to discern why it's happening.

I think I may have discovered the issue in the bit rate I'm using to capture. I have the capture program set to capture at a rate of 14Mbps, which I thought "higher encoding, less quality loss"... Turns out it may be hurting me instead. Forcing my hard drive to write 1.7 Megabytes a second for even just a few seconds appears to be too much strain from USB2.0, especially when the video being produced can be nigh losslessly produced at significantly lower rates.

I decided to look up recommended bit rates on Youtube's support, and it turns out that I'm trying to force quality levels for beyond 1440p for sub-480p, which I can only assume is doing more harm than good. Especially when you consider the sheer amount of file bloat.

I need to test this theory... I hope I'm right.

EDIT: Turns out my .ts raws are flawless, but the .mp4 files created from the capture program's converter are messed up by various degrees. I can't even begin to fathom why this happens, but I need to discover the reason because Adobe Premiere does to .ts what Camtasia does to .mp4 (which is improper processing to say the very least).

Good stuff as always!

Thanks! The feedback means a lot to me.

I guess I have two requests of "Trel Play's" if you want to do at some point.

I'm always looking for suggestions!

Paper Mario (N64)

Definitely doable. I have it on Virtual Console on the Wuu.

and the one I don't think you'll want to do..

.hack//Original 4 (this one would take a long time.. but it can be one at a time with other games in between. Also the games have become kinda rare these days)

I would consider them... If I still owned them. I did, at one time, own all four of the Kite storyline games, but sold them when I tried to pick back up from the middle of Quarantine and was not only lost, but bored to tears by it.

I mentioned this request to Kuma (my counterpart as founder of Save State) and he said he would take them on instead.

(also SMB2J/Lost Levels FDS version is always a good one since it's challenging and still kinda rare to see outside of Japan/Gaming Community)

Is the version that was released on Wii Virtual Console good enough for this, or should I find a different ROM of the game?

I recently picked up Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD and have been playing that pretty hardcore, having clocked fourteen hours in two days.

For story progress, I just got Ixion from Yevon-Djose Temple. I've been working my Sphere Grid pretty well since I started farming for Ability Spheres thanks to finding a monster that drops them and teaching Wakka the ability to force more to drop.

As it stands right now, I can get just about any sphere flavor I could possibly want to complete nodes on my grid.

For Speed Spheres, I have Tidus with Extract.
For Mana Spheres, I have Tidus with an Distill weapons.
For Power Spheres, I have Auron, Tidus, and Wakka with Distill weapons.
For Ability Spheres, I have Wakka and Kimahri with Extract and Yuna with a Distill weapon.
Luck Spheres haven't appeared yet.

The two Level 1 Key Spheres I've gotten have been used to get from Kimahri's grid into Wakka's and the Power node cluster in Lulu's grid near the -ara spell family.

I think it's hilarious how I have Lulu, the black mage, set in a way that gives her more HP than Tidus. (~1100 for Lulu vs ~980 for Tidus)

I've also been playing the shit out of 2048 on my phone. I almost won twice today. Both times, I had a very similar end result.

The high score was set by the first near-win when I played on my break at 5:30 this morning.

The playing field gets surprisingly cluttered when it fills with high value panels, even after clearing half of the board in a huge combo.

Have you not reached 2048 yet in it? o_O

I had a score of 20200 when I did it..

Nope, because I only play it for about twenty minutes on any given day. I also tend to zone out when I play and it leads to some pretty damning moves.

Microsoft seems so damn desperate to regain their lost customers by shilling out these empty promises.

Sorry, M$, you fucked up. This is one customer you will NEVER get back for any of your "services".
