But beware of The Giant Tilde!

N.B. I had to use TinyURL to avoid breaking the link code!

I am glad we have all found the magic of friendship, let us all love and tolerate each other.

Apart from the 13 new ones (yay~), I have 9 to go, so 22 in total.

I just got the TARDIS. I was disappointed to see it was so small compared to Mother Brain.

Spoiler tags shouldn't be used to hide images anyway.

Links should be used to hide images.
If the JavaScript does not load the picture until the spoiler is opened, I don't see the problem.

The same kind of buttons could be used for hiding YouTube videos. If we must use links for that the whole embedding is pointless anyway.

The one we use now (Java-based), only works on half of the computers I tried it on, and gives several scary warnings.

As I suggested to Emuz earlier, we could use LightIRC. Even though it's Flash-based, it's very lightweight, configurable, and convenient to work with.

We do need a Flash Policy daemon on the server.

External links should open a new tab/window, while internal links should not.

I seem to most often get sprites on the "Thank you for posting a reply" page... which is too quick for me, I guess. :P
Yes it annoys me too. Even when I click it just in time, the page refresh still triggers before the catch is registered! I even lost the elusive TARDIS this way!

Sprites really should not appear on quickly disappearing pages.

I would also expect many people on this forum will create links by using , and therefore wouldn't follow any rules set up for [url]- consistency may be a virtue here?
Good point, maybe we need a Quick Help so at least they will know about [url].

External links should open a new tab/window, while internal links should not.
I asked for this some 7 years ago, to which Jesper replied "Isn't it better to allow the user to choose whether he wants to open it in a new tab/window instead of forcing it?" (the only wise thing he has ever said ;)). He said that when tabbed browsing was getting popular, and I couldn't agree more. Let the users choose where to open their links, it takes literally one click to open in the same window/tab and also one click for a new window/tab.
It was only one of the first things I learned at school about web design...

It is mainly the courtesy, in not pretending the linked content is part of your site.

Also, I find it highly annoying when testing an external link in newreply's preview.

@knuck: There's a setting in Opera that allows you to open new tabs in the background. ;)
I have that on middle-click. But this is not comfortable on some mice, as it might toggle the power of the wheel...

*awaits Kawa to start speaking of hypercubes*

Reminds me of how you could make 4D levels, by deliberately connecting tangential vertices, in the map editor of Descent.

I don't get it. English, please? Also, I want videos of 4Descent!
I am afraid I can't describe it better than that. Wikipedia explains the principle behind it at least. It has been more then 10 years since I touched the Map Editor or even the game, so I don't remember it clearly any more.

Thing was, you could be in the same place as another player in the 3D automap, and it was clearly the same room in 3D from your cockpit, yet you could not see the other player. You were physically in the same room and not in the same room at the same time. If there were power-ups in the room, you could collect them. The other player could collect them too in his own dimension.

1. Read Wikipedia articles while I still can
2. Read Memebase feeds while I still can
3. Don't download Firefox while I still can (wait, Mozilla is only half-protesting?)

I personally use the HTML tag myself. I think a lot of us from the old board do it that way. I suppose this could be part o the code for the UBB style tag. However if the majority of us do use the HTML one it won't have much of an effect. :(
These could still be intercepted to have 'target="_new"' or similar added to them, but as knuck states, not everyone will like that.

Ouch, my mind...

Edit: fixed embed HTML (no idea why YouTube gave me an iframe this time)
