Now, most machines that used this chip have a ROM BIOS (even the ColecoVision, surprising for a console of the era), so that's not a huge problem... The Sega SG-1000/SC-3000 also used this chip, and it doesn't have a BIOS. Which means that if you have dirty contacts or an iffy cartridge slot, a game failing to start doesn't just mean a blank screen. It means a loud continuous beep. Damnit, TI |
