I'm about a hundred thousand years late to the party on this I imagine, but I just played through it. It was pretty neat, the little dialogue in between levels made me chuckle a little at times and the game is simple but enjoyable. Definitely has potential for more in the future. I have a certain appreciation for games like this that are more small and arcade-like so this makes me smile.
I dunno if it's just me being bad at the game though, but those bird things were annoying to deal with. The other enemies had more predictable movement patterns that I could exploit to get them to go somewhere, whereas with the birds I was constantly running about the stage thinking "Stay still you little shit!" as I tried my best to land a shot while they spasmodically moved wherever they damn well pleased. The sprites were pretty nice though, I remember you saying at some point that you weren't the strongest artist but they looked good to me. Perhaps with small sprites like that it's easier for people who aren't as good at drawing since the level of detail is much lower. I had a friend who couldn't really draw that well but made very nice looking sprites/pixel stuff. Ironically, since I am more accustomed to freehand drawing, little sprites like that are very hard for me since I'm so used to thinking of things illustratively and working with lines and such. Went to a local for Guilty Gear Xrd recently. Absolutely got my ass handed to me but I had fun. Been on a general fighting game kick lately though, some recent games I've played off the top of my head are Street Fighter Third Strike, Garou Mark of the Wolves and KOF 13 with some pals.
I'd say as a whole with fighting games I'm what you'd call a "passionate scrub". I love and respect high-level fighting game play even if I am nowhere near that level myself. I wouldn't say I'm the worst player, per say, but I'm no Evo champion. That's for damn sure. MVC2 at Evo this year though. IT'S MAHVEL TIME BABY! And you know what that means? LIGHT PUNCH. Well, I'm not sure if this counts or not, but since I compose music for the PC-98 soundchip for a game I'm working on and I use PMD to compose the notes and a DOS emulator to run the MC compiler program.
If that doesn't count probably Adobe Flash CS3, which is from '07 I think. I use that for animations on the odd occasion I do those. I see no reason to use anything past CS3 really. Adobe never really added any useful features within it outside of maybe the Actionscript side, but who the hell scripts anything in Flash these days anyway? Also, I can't believe I haven't contributed to this given how much of a piece of weeb trash I am soooo: -Yu Yu Hakusho (extremely basic pick, but I love it) -Hunter x Hunter (2011 series, though I have been watching the 99 series too and I like certain aspects of it) -Azumanga Daioh -Mad Bull 34 (I'd recommend the dub. It's one of those super corny 90's anime dubs with constant unnecessary swearing and makes it way better.) -JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (the David Productions one, though the 90's Stardust Crusaders OVA is enjoyable even if not that great) -Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z -Ranma 1/2 (specifically the first 3 seasons or so. Afterward it's not as good imo.) -Trigun -Paranoia Agent -Cowboy Bebop Also I've never seen the anime for it but I really like the manga for Fullmetal Alchemist. Fav manga for sure, I own the whole thing physically, probably just above the JoJo or the Azumanga Daioh manga. As with any list of my own favorites I am probably forgetting some super obvious shit that will come to me later and I'll think "Fuck!
