fun, random fact: reading about the Mew glitch on Glitch City Labs is basically how i learned how RAM and assembly and hexadecimal work, and is also how i learned about buffer overflow and the whole concept that a binary file is just a huge string of bytes that a computer just jumps around

Had a chance to play the newest DOOM game yet?
still haven't played doom 2016 :( i want to but i kinda wanna get through the other DOOM games i haven't played first (2, 64). i've been too stressed out to want to play video games lately.

favorite sega genesis game?
sonic 3 & knuckles. maybe castlevania: bloodlines, maybe gunstar heroes. pretty generic picks.

Gunstar's rad as fuck, good picks.

Cutest game you've played?
probably, once again, kirby's adventure.

maybe gunbound actually, weirdly enough. a lot of those junky online korean timesink games were really adorable (even ragnarok NO NOT RAGNAROK yeah ragnarok)

hm.. well, back in late 2016 i had my main hard drive in my computer cease functioning. it'd been slowly going and my computer had been taking weirdly absurdly long times to boot until it just stopped completely, and i tested a bunch of stuff including reinstalling windows several times in two days in the hopes that it might work again. eventually i stopped even being able to read anything on the hard drive no matter what, and that terrified me because i didn't keep backups at the time. (i do now. regularly.) i downloaded puppy linux and used that for a while. i'm super lucky in that i managed to grab almost everything off of my dead hard drive without any issues. it was slow, but it worked. it also taught me to make regular backups.

the more catastrophic failure was the sudden death of one of my hard drives in 2007 -- it just completely stopped working suddenly one day and it makes bizarre mechanical noises and fails to be recognized whenever i boot it. it has a bunch of old music and weird shit on it, and i'd love to take a look at it sometime. i've tried getting it working several times over the years using different methods, and nothing has worked. i suspect the platter is dislodged, but i'm not brave enough to try to fix that. i'm also not sure how that'd happen when absolutely nothing physically damaging occurred when i used it. unless the parts were cheap and shitty. to be fair, it was a maxtor drive...

I got warped back in 2016, and everything I lost was.. right there in front of me. I suddenly had all the opportunities to redo everything. Nobody around me was aware of how important this moment was.
as for me.. I knew this was a dream, I was so aware of it that this became a lucid dream in no time. I soon started to feel my real life self, sleeping in an awkward position. Nevertheless, I let the dream continue, until I couldn't anymore. I let go.
i've been having a lot of really similar dreams where i wake up in my parents' house in missouri as if it was still early 2016... they're all lucid dreams, but i don't really do anything special with the fact that they're lucid dreams. i usually just sit around and eat pizza and ask how my parents are doing. sometimes i play different guitars in the dreams and that's a plot point. i'm not 100% sure why it's been a recurring thing, but it has.

the recurring 2004 dreams have been a lot weirder. they're a bit less lucid. i've been slowly transitioning in them to the point where i'm now a girl in them and it's like i've always been a girl and i'm just a girl in her bedroom in her parents' house in michigan in 2004 and that's just normal. before that it was, like, me trying to secretly shapeshift myself into a girl using my lucid dreaming powers. then me trying to convince my parents to let me get on HRT and transition socially. and eventually it just became "oh i'm just a girl now", like my bedroom looks slightly more girly and my whole wardrobe is different.

it usually ends in me watching 2004-era adult swim and talking to friends on IRC. sometimes if i "appear" in the dream and it's late at night at that point, it involves me watching weird episodes of the simpsons at 3am on digital cable.

monkeybone monkeybone monkeybone monkeybone monkeybone monkeybone monkeybone monkeybone monkeybone monkeybone

monkeybone, along with dana carvey's master of disguise, is a CIA psyops experiment designed to test the outer limits of the capacity of bad taste and its effects on the human psyche. easily the most tragic and terrible thing to happen in the year 2001

when i had a macbook i didn't really notice the lack of space either... but that's mostly because i have 1.5 TB of storage on my desktop where everything important is. i tend to take stuff and just dropbox it to my desktop after a while since it's kind of my "home base"

well, tended. i don't do anything anymore because my macbook died (rip) (long story)

i'll grant that

master of disguise is like occasionally unintentionally funny in a weird cringey way and it's very memeable. monkeybone is satan's spawn of the deep crawled unto the earth

the distressing thing about monkeybone is that i actually love some of henry selick's other works. i think what makes his other movies special is the way they combine that eerieness with a deeper spirit – nightmare before christmas's sense of childlike wonder and humor, coraline's preteen familial-angst tug-of-war, james & the giant peach's spirit of adventure. but all of monkeybone's strangeness feels super forced compared to those movies. it feels, dare i say, lolrandom. roger ebert wrote about it and normally i'm not the type to appeal to a big famous movie critic's perspective but he's absolutely right

also very important thing about master of disguise is that it gave us the perfect caricature of u.s. senator mitch mcconnell
