So Microsoft skipped Windows 9 and went on to Windows 10. It looks like it'll be better than Windows 8. The Metro apps screen was strange to me as it is better suited for touchscreens. I prefer the regular desktop screen. But it seems like Windows 10 will be a big improvement from Windows 8, so hopefully it will turn out that way. :)

I believe Windows 10 is set to be released in 2015.

They really didn't skip it at all as there are 2 "9" if you will
Windows 8.1 and Windows 9x which if i remember right was the basis before NT which started with XP

Nice, might be finally worth the upgrade :D (I've heard one reason they skipped "9" was because of "Windows 9x" too :P)

And 8.1 = "9"

Apparently Java does in fact return a string, and checking if it starts with "Windows 9" was a common way to detect 9x back in the day when it mattered- and thanks to corporations, old Java code is still in use all over >_>

I heard that 2 not to mention i know people with older hardware that use Damn Small Linux because there hardware is so old it can barely if ever handle even XP anymore or even at all

I had a 1.92 board years ago that i and a few friends ended up almost entirely rewriting the code of in fact we ended up calling it 1.92.B or 1.92.A to separate our version a little bit from the others but even then ours was full of bugs but at least the security was semi decent

Security was the hard part too. I know there are few other forks that ended up being very different from the source board.

I know it which is why we focused so much on it. I have seen some of them and it reminds me a lot of the Free Software/open source and GNU/Linux Stuff

Ours externally was very similar to the original 1.92 but internally became very different largely because of the code rewrites and new features we were trying to add

I have a GeForce 970 card. I don't have a proper driver yet, so that might affect things.

that's usually the culprit

and is this the one your talking about http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-970/specifications

Yeah, There are a few places that ended up doing just that. It was easier in a way. There is one site that changed so much I think you could barely tell it was an Acmlmboard.

It was so much easier when we decided to do that rather than just try to patch it

Also If it wasn't for a hard drive crash (had the code backup ) and a septic tank (drainage pipe froze) back up frying my server which was a really old PC) I/we would have most likely be able to fix & release the code and possibly made certain recent AcmlmBoard projects unnecessary

So what are your favorite drinks?

I like to drink diet soda, iced coffee, and iced tea. I usually don't drink regular soda because it has the sugar of two or three candy bars. Hot coffee and hot tea burn my mouth and I wash my hands with cold water even though I take showers with extremely hot water.

You can also say you like alcoholic drinks but I hope you don't get drunk because getting drunk is very unhealthy for your liver.

Everything is bad for your health these days.

Not to mention the reason i drink regular pop/soda is because some studies have proven that Diet Soda/Pop is actually worse for your health than regular especially the Soda/pop made with synthetic sugar

i heard from a friend just now that that the people who run php and are the primary developers of it are FINALLY working on creating a formal PHP specification.

with that in my i think if yout thinking of doing a recode i would possibly wait until the final specs of php are released so you could possibly create a final version of it before moving on so to speak.

Eh, well Acmlmboard is planned to be rewritten in another language, most likely Python, once 2.5 is finished, I believe. From what I read, Python is much better to work with than with PHP.

ok fair enough i thought you were going keep thins update until version 2.9 or 2.99 and the recode would be 3.0

Haha, 2.9 and 3.0 are a long way ahead. They might not even be seen until the early 2020's. ;) The main priority right now is to fix bugs and add new features in 2.5.

Also, do you remember what new features you and your friends added to 1.92.A/1.92.B? It'd be nice to see what you could do with 2.5. :)

most of it was profile stuff such as visitor messages, profile customization ( similar to vBulletin) we also had notifications for users like when there post was quoted. we were planning on custom forum themes as well where you could choose colors and pic for it similar to how custom profiles worked. most of this is probably stuff you guys could are less about

Ah, I see. The notification for when your post is quoted sounds interesting though. The visitor messages are also in ABXD, as you might know. Well if you're ever interested, anyone can take a shot at seeing what they can do with 2.5, of course.

So i take it your board is distributed under very similar rules or the same rules as the GPL

there were other stuff we added i know it just i wasn't the one who coded them i gave you the ones i coded
