I've played quite a few of the older Sim City games.
I still enjoy the occasional game of good old Age of Empires (I, II, and III) and Command and Conquer. ____________________ Sonnanja, ore no inochi wa toreneena! FFXIV: Jinpu Ishikawa RO2: Kougeki Miwashi Emikoku Steam: Ryudof |

While we're talking about SimCity, here's some pics from an old city of mine. It's a medium size city with over 1 million pop. (it really takes down my computer so I dunno if I'll continue to develop it):

Ah, Blah City. The city that doesn't sleep, but it certainly will make your computer feel sluggish. |

One of those skyscrapers looks like a block of flats built around here.. Except the one around here looks like two of them shoved into each other. The world could always use more heroes! |

I gotta admit that I failed to plan ahead there so the traffic is kind of horrible... but building up a proper road network from anew would mean demolishing half the buildings and I don't wanna do that. |

Solving traffic problems is half the fun with Simcity 4, especially with Rush Hour and NAM.
I wonder how much public transportation that city have. I see some railroads. Who tend to reach overcapacity so easily. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube

Posted by Ailure Yes, strangely railroads don't have that much capacity, you'd think they did. Besides that, the city also contains a subway network (you can spot a station if you look really closely). Subway stations are annoying because of their miniscule capacity, even though the subway lines can fit many more passengers. |

Next Simcity is coming.
I'm worried they screw it over. It's allegedly mod friendly at least (and they admit the success and staying power of SC4 is due to it's mods). ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube

There was some previews "leaked" out from GDC. The game still have zones and the simulation looks like it's more complex than SC4. But I can see why they aren't showcasing that public version yet, it's very late alpha'ish. Most of the engine and simulation seems to be there but it's rough. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube

I loved SimCity 4, and recently re-bought it since it was only ~$10 (lost my disc from the last time I got it, god damn; this is why I love digital distribution... you can't lose the internet! ). I need to go look up some of the mods again, it was just so fun.
OpenTTD is awesome too, though I haven't played it all that much (I can never convince anyone to play on a private server , I just don't like random public servers). |
