Actually, the Xbox is the largest mainstream gaming console to date... >_>
Try comparing it to the PS3. From what figures I can gather, the non-slim PS3 is slightly bigger, but not quite as tall.

Nobody seems to comment on that console being huge though.

I said mainstream, Nicole.

Atari is hardly mainstream now.

Yeah, excluding the controller the 5200 Pac-Man was apparently way better than the 2600.

The last time I played Pac-Man was on an arcade machine.. a fair few years ago. >_>

Atari is way before I started gaming.

I started at the N64. I wasn't lucky enough to have the SNES era.

I started gaming in the NES era. I missed the Atari and everything before it, but I don't think I missed very much.

Why is everyone's first console the Nintendo 64?

...it was mine too!

Apparently the NES is the N64 now, because I posted:

Before @Liliana said everyone started with N64.

Actually, on thought.. I originally started with PC Gaming through as such. A dedicated console came a few years down the line, which was the N64... >_>

The latest Portal update is really fun. The "easy to use" map editor isn't as flexible as hammer, but is way way easier to use and less fiddly (a basic "connect button to this panel" setup is way more fiddly within hammer...). You can import maps into hammer for finetuning if you really want to however...

Third console generation is a good start (that is the NES). The first (Pong consoles) and second (Atari 2600) is still very basic, it was with the third generation things started to take off and games was more than "getting high score".

Amusingly we actually have returned to the score obession to a certain extent, some shooter games have points that is related to the unlock system. I love Battlefield 3, but I hated having to unlock some of the bare necessaries. I'm admittly more of a PC gamer nowadays now I play games like TF2, Dota2 and lately... Battlefield 3 (Call of duty sucks).

I never got into GTA. It just doesn't appeal, yet its (vastly superior) clone, Saint's Row looks fun as hell. I haven't played it either, though.
From how Saint's Row is advertised.. I get the opinion it's fairly focused on customisation.. Anyone played it to educate me otherwise?
Saints Row is basically a GTA that dosen't take itself more seriously, more remniscent of the early GTA games but exegerrated to the eleven. It's really fun, but it's also really silly and dumb (in a good way) too.
