It's stories like this which put down the interest in a console. Unfortunately, these days, media attention is the largest sales driving or killing factor.
A lot of people have become zombified into the "CoD/Battlefield" scene which pretty much are the "major" games each year that are "must haves" because they have so much media attention. The world could always use more heroes! |

In the end Nintendo isn't getting third party support, so they need to prop up their console themselves- and they just aren't doing that well enough yet. But remember the 3DS' first year post-launch... |

♥4386 ✿5074 ★67 The 3DS came out 3 years ago; judging by the DS lasting about 7 years it seems strange they'd rush to replace their portable hardware so early.
At the very least I wouldn't expect a replacement until the 3DS turns 5, even if the Wii U is considered beyond reprieve even by Nintendo itself...  |

This kind of defeatist attitude pisses me off. I bought my Wii U back in September because I believed the console was good enough. Now that it's being declared a failure not six months after my purchase pisses me off because it feels like I wasted my money. |

Meh - dropping forecasted sales isn't admittance to the system being a flop... Not saying the system ISN'T a flop, just that Nintendo isn't admitting to it. |

The 3DS just had a slow start, but it still was way better than it's competition and as soon it's price became more competitive (it wasn't as overpriced anymore), it started to sell well.
The naming is pretty bad too. There was way too much confusion amongst not so game savy people who were buying consoles, which was a pretty huge part of why Wii succeeded as it did. A lot of people got mistaken into thinking Wii U was a console accessory rather than a successor.
