I realized I probably won't get a player-base for this hack very quickly if I only release it within the communities I frequent, so I'm branchin' out! What up.

From my page:
"Project Base is a massive, ongoing rework of Super Metroid that first appeared in August of 2009. It does not include edits that force the player to take a new path, and there are absolutely no advanced tricks required for anything. Instead, new content has been added onto the existing layout, and every single room has been modified in some way. Well-known sequence breaks and shortcuts have been left alone, with many new ones added. Holy crap. Programming bugs from the original game are documented and fixed whenever possible.

The name 'Project Base' refers its original purpose, which was to act as a base hack for others to build from. It has since become a full-fledged game in its own right, which ROM hackers are still welcome to take resources from."

Comments and critiques encouraged! It makes this hack grooooow.

And lastly, visualization!

Hey Grime! It's me, KochiyaStar, formerly known as DarkSamus over where you are, at Metroid Construction.

How have you been, man? I never expected you to join here, let alone frequent it. Is this an update of the hack you've been working on, or is it an update on the actual base for other hacks..

I'm hoping (because it looks as such) it's the hack. Welcome back Project Base! I missed this hack, and I'm glad it's out of delay. I can't wait to play it, Grime, it's looking beautiful!

Please, follow up frequently man. I'm already interested. Your activity here is much obliged! :)

I won't be active again in the hacking scene for a long time, but I do try to respond to feedback as I see it, or at the very least read all of it. My forum presence will probably not extend much beyond this thread though. Lots'a IRL thangs.

Thats how I figured it as. A shame really, however I see there are important things that need to be done as well. I'll follow this closely, Grime. Can't wait to play this. I've be wanting to ever since late 2009.

Very good hack indeed shame the difficulty wasn't raised abit more higher like super metroid zero mission or z factor.

Samus paletter you choose wasn't really sitting well with me at all I gave it my own personal pallete, hope you don't mind.
Control wise the game seemed abit to hyper, if a speed run player were to do this it would be finished in less than 30 minutes.

9 out of 10 is what I give it here is a video for those who have yet to play it.
I may rip some sprites from this and update that rankset..... >_>

Thanks for playin'! You'll be happy to know a proper hard mode will eventually be made, likely for later Project Base versions. No worries about the suit palettes, they've been pretty hit-or-miss so far. I've been adjusting them each version and getting less and less complaints. :P

I realize the game can be beaten pretty quickly now, but that won't be the case in the distant future once I've expanded it. There's TONS of new content coming. The extra stuff in PB 0.7 is a tiny teaser.

Gotta say, I like what I've seen of the new palettes. Hearing about the addition of the charge beam pulling items toward you is pretty solid, too (Among the hacks I wanted to make was "Super Metroid Prime" -- basic concept is self-explanatory. However, it's way too ambitious for me to even consider attempting any time soon.) I might take a crack at this at a later date.

It may be a bit pre-preemptive to ask, but have you outlined any particular features and/or changes for PB 0.8?

I'd really like to get this on an actual cartridge.

0.8 will mostly aim to fix persisting bugs and other annoyances I haven't been able to pin down. I'll also be organizing every room's level data in the ROM so it's all neatly packed together, freeing up as much space as possible for future new rooms and the like. That along with the usual edits or undos based on feedback of earlier versions. Can't really say beyond that until I start working on it again.
