♥8279 ✿5211 ★45 As has been mentioned on IRC, today we received news that long-time user  Taryn has passed away. Though our relationship had some bumps, on the whole she was a good friend to me- the very first person I talked with after I came out- and I know she was a close friend to others here as well, and I know that she will be missed by the Kafuka community and the world at large. She struggled deeply in her life, and I can only hope that she is now at peace. |

I helped her through tough times in her life, helped her out of the closet... first met her way back in 2006 when I was having trouble in my life  We saved each other's lives for a couple years despite living far apart 
For a while, I was Taryn's only friend even Rest in peace Taryn, we will deeply miss you "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

I clicked "New Reply", and I sit here, sick to my stomach, staring at a black box. I don't really know what I'm supposed to put here.
I had just come back from a day of helping people move and playing Smash Bros after. I log on the board/IRC and find this. I wish this was all just satire and that she came back and we all just joked about it. Too young. Just too damn young. I don't usually find myself affected by things like this, especially when I'm not related. But honestly, she's family to us, so I shouldn't be all that surprised. We have had a great loss here. I am at a loss for words right now, so I'm just going to let this sit here until I'm a bit more compiled. |

While I can't say that I was ever really close with her. Hell, I rarely ever chatted with her.
I wasn't expecting to check Twitter and see  Emuz tweeting about her passing. This completely blindsided me. I can't help but be curious about what happened to her, as detestably morbid as that sounds. |

We spoke for hours at times. Mostly about daily life stuff. We also touched on the past a bit. I enjoyed our conversations. I tried my best to help whenever she had something she wanted to confide in me.

No, no, it cannot be… IT CANNOT BE! This is exactly what I feared. I'm just so saddened by this, that I don't know what to say. No, "saddened" isn't too strong of a word. What I am feeling is extreme grief, but even "even grief" isn't too strong of a phrase. I just can't find the word for extreme, extreme sadness and grief and despair and unhappiness and sorrow and despondency. There just isn't a word for such a massive feeling. I am crying a lot. Taryn was a very close friend to me. She helped me during tough times. Well, I might as well say this. Posted by NinjiYeah, I plan on making a serious board and working on the code. Taryn was one of the planned administrators for my yet-to-be board. She was also an operator on an IRC channel I have. Now, my IRC channel won't be the same without her and the yet-to-be board will not be without her either. I will miss Taryn for sure. Well, something that no one knew about is that I went on vacation to Seattle; Portland, Oregon; and Northern California during Easter Break in April of this year. Remember when I wasn't here from April 18 to April 26? Yeah, I was in Seattle; Portland, Oregon; and Northern California. The reason I didn't meet Taryn is because I was 17 year old at the time and well uh, my parents probably would not approve of me meeting someone in real life that I knew over the internet. Now, I regret not meeting Taryn when I was in Seattle. But I just don't know how I would gotten past my parents without getting in trouble with them. I wish I had met Taryn back when I was in Seattle.

I feel as if I'm the most saddened by Taryn's passing but I'm sure many of you feel that way too. Yeah, it sounds selfish of me, but I'm just deeply despondent.
So I have been typing this post for about an hour and I have already cried a lot. I just do not know what to say. I don't know how I can even deal with this. Taryn was an awesome and very close friend to me. Rest in peace Taryn, you were a very close friend to me.

This is... Weird... I mean we only had one conversation with my time here and I honestly thought there would be a lot more. :/
This is something I genuinely wasn't expecting in the morning. (I'm sure most of you are American and different time zones, plus I may be a day late to this :/) But from what I've read about her she was important to all of you and... You guys were important to her. I mean you all have your little stories with her that go way back... Mine? She's the reason I don't use "U" instead of "you" and I wish there was more to it than that... |

Taryn... I remember when we were close friends, and when she helped me come to terms with myself... I honestly don't know where I would be now if I hadn't met her. She had her quirks, like everyone else, but she was a great friend to have.
Up to the last moment I hoped this whole thing would have a happy end, that she had been in hospital or something. Hearing the bad news shocked me. I'll miss her... |

Wow. Like ek_0, I woke up to this. But I had pancakes for breakfast before checking Kafuka. I was so ready to have a good day and this has just deflated me entirely. I never talked to her as much as some of you guys did and never quite made the connections you made, but the fact that someone who was important in a lot of my friends (I consider most of you friends if that's okay) has just been taken away saddens me a great deal.
Taryn, Hope you're having a good time in whatever there is after this and I hope there are pancakes for you there. Sorry if any of this is insensitive, I'm not very good at being sombre. ____________________ |
