I've become so accustomed to floors being numbered 0 then 1 which makes floors being numbered 1 then 2 so unfamiliar. I mean it makes sense for floor numbering to be 0 then 1. Floor numbering being 1 then 2 seems uncanny because why would the ground floor be the first floor? If the ground floor is the zero floor then the next floor is the first floor. It is much more fitting for the next floor to be the first floor as that is the first floor to be above the ground.

Having the ground floor be called floor one makes more sense literally (It is usually the floor you enter on) and as an autistic kid I had a problem with that convention of ground then one then two but unless I'm given specific directions to a floor in a building of that specific type and it isn't signposted that well I don't really have a problem with it anymore. I'm also English so it's probably different here. ____________________ |
