I'm probably going to start on a new overhaul hack of SM myself.

Lots of ASM is going into this thing, like.. I've been fiddling with a ROM patching asm files and stuff and I don't even have half the asm Im going to be using if I get started on it anytime soon and I've put 12 asm patches on it. I don't even have any level design planned out or a story haha.

Hacks are a good way to waste some time and it brings a certain joy when someone plays your material. Especially if you follow through and release something big!

I say go for it.

If you make a SMW hack, please don't make a secret exit require exploiting a glitch, or add the ground pound and/or wall jump ;P Gets too annoying seeing hacks with the same crap all the time

I personally think Super Metroid is more bendy in terms of having something new and fresh. Might just because I know it more.. though.
