Why are schools closed tomorrow? (at least in New York or Albany County) It's not like kids can vote; even though schools are sometimes used as polling places, they only need to use the gymnasium or auditorium ;)

I've heard it's because the government is worried about potential threats against polling places; I guess they think having students there too is just too much of a risk now.

A depressing sign of the times; when I went to the public school they had no problem with voting and having classes in the same session (though at the time I'd have much preferred the day off)

I thought it was because it is Veterans Day, but that is on Friday.

It's also ridiculous that schools get 2 days off this week (today and Friday), then another two for Thanksgiving literally 2 weeks apart ;)

Today I went to do a windows update..

..and it failed. I booted into a BSOD.

I'm just glad Windows 7 has a startup repair which allowed me to run system restore to reverse the failed update.

The world could always use more heroes!

Does (almost) every thread have to mention something about the election in some form or another?

Yeah, I'm done talking about it for now :P Meanwhile, the hard drive in my PowerBook 1400cs failed so I'm reinstalling Mac OS 8.1 onto it using an 8GB CF card in an IDE adapter :)

Blinking light stopped. But now all I get is a grey screen. :( Guess I'll open the other NES at a later date.

If only I can get SimTower to work on the PowerBook 1400cs (I don't know if it's because I'm on Mac OS 8.1 or if it's because I'm on a PowerPC or what)

Oh well, all good things come to an end.

By that, I mean that the extraordinarily large "Summer" break is over. Back to school from tomorrow.

Huh, these next few weeks are the last ones on this current school year over here. Yay for living on the other hemisphere of the world!
