So unless it's super yappy, you get no sympathy from me. oh don't get me wrong, I like dogs and know to be patient with them, but some circumstances challenge your patience. summing up the last time I lived with a dog, having someone's dog forced on you won't generally let you warm up to the dog. my father lives away from us, so he got a dog for himself without telling us, which's.. fine. he takes it to our home when he visite us. our cat doesn't like it much, but neither of them are agressive so that's ok. what's less ok is that he couldn't take his dog along his next trip, so he left it home for us to take care of, for a whole month. as expected, the dog got lonely quickly. his behavior was not too bad but he had a few nasty habits. it grew frustrating holding it in over time. ____________________ there's a link here. |

he's not trained to live in an apartment. he chewed (and destroyed) things we let lying around, which is admittedly our fault. he squeals a lot out of impatience before we take him out. but his worst habits are mostly such as him stealing his own food cans. he chews them open and eats it all. he also steals cat food the moment we look away. I can't make a better list because I didn't take mental notes.
I guess it's pretty normal for a dog and we took countermeasures, but we grew increasingly frustrated near the end of the month. we had near zero knowledge of what dad taught him, so we had no leads how to teach him anything. what we learnt is that you grow laid-back after taking care of cats for years. ____________________ there's a link here. |
