Posted by Danika I guess objectively anything prior to the SNES, since pretty much every pre-SF2 fighting game was dogshit. Though even SNES-era systems had terrible arcade ports, lame SF2 clones, and even after SF2 fighting games were still more or less in an experimental phase of figuring things out. Sometimes I play more zoning-heavy characters, other times I prefer more aggressive rushdown, but usually I like sort of a mix between both.
