Posted by DarkWitchClaire I wouldn't call this a "bad game", per say, but an example I encountered semi-recently was with Under Night In-Birth. As a fighting game it has a lot of unique ideas gameplay-wise, such as the GRD system and vorpal cycle and the characters themselves have interesting and unique gimmicks... but man, everything else about the game is just so okay. The character designs and general world of the game doesn't get me excited for a fight, the music is alright at best, for a fighting game it really lacks that "coolness" factor. I don't feel cool playing as any of those characters. It ruined a lot of the charm of the art/designs in a lot of early Mario in favor of a general art direction that feels much less inspired to me.
