I finished up Black 2, and by "finished up" I mean that I beat the elites, romped the champ, and explored the rest of Unova, catching the newly unlocked legends.
Of the legends, the hardest to catch by (actual battle attempt count) was Creselia, I had to fight her three times. Once, I knocked her out; then, I wiped while continually failing to catch; finally, I caught the bitch.
The hardest to catch in terms of balls used would have had to be Kyurem... I don't know why, but getting it into nigh invisible HP and paralyzing it, my Dusk Balls kept failing. I probably used about twenty of them.
The easiest was a tie between Heatran and Zekrom. Both were chipped down easily enough and submitted fairly easily. I would have to give the trophy to Zekrom, though, since its capture rate is 45, as opposed to Heatran's 3.
Interestingly enough, you're forced to beat the piss out of both Kyurem and Zekrom/Reshiram at least once before they're available to be caught. I will spare details since they're pretty big spoilers.
Oh, I managed to find a shiny Golurk on Victory Road while trying to find N's Zoroark to meet with N. I found it under the same circumstances I found my shiny Cubone in SoulSilver last year, by letting my repel lapse and getting into a single encounter. Now, as opposed to Cubone (which got a beneficial nature [Jolly], optimal ability [Rock Head], and great IVs [high Attack and Speed]), Golurk kinda sucks... It's nature is bad (Naughty), it's ability is the worst of its three (Klutz), though counting its Dream World ability is unfair since it's not available in the wild, but Iron Fist is infinitely better. I haven't checked its IVs, because the ability and nature are off-putting on ever wanting to use it.
I started up White 2 and used Key Exchange from Black 2 to unlock and activate Challenge Mode. To further up the ante, I decided to use a smaller team and carry two untrained HM slaves. I also allowed @Marzen64 and my friend Doc Sigma to decide on two of my fighting Pokemon.
My team is:
Smugleaf (Servine, named after the common fan nickname), Sodomizer (Magnemite, named indirectly by Doc), Echo (Growlithe, decided by Doc, named after my brother's Husky), Drake (Dratini, named by Marzen), Dux (Farfetch'd, Cut/Fly slave, named for the trade in Gen I), and Donatello (Tirtouga, Surf/Waterfall/Dive/Strength slave, named after my favorite turtle of TMNT)
Now, since I decidedly put myself at such a large disadvantage, when I used PokeGen to generate Drake, Dux, and Donatello (I did it legitimately, save for Don, which I generated as a code-accurate shiny... Unless you count giving Drake two egg moves [Dragon Dance and ExtremeSpeed]) I also gave myself three Lucky Eggs to make the inevitable grinding easier to do.
As for levels: Smugleaf, Echo, and Drake are level 20, and Sodomizer is level 22 since I used it against Roxie's gym because lolImmune.
Progression-wise, I just beat the second gym, and I'm getting ready to move onto Castelia City. Haven't decided what level to grind to to take on Burgh, though Echo is going to be in the spotlight.
In non-Pokemon news: I bought Castle Crashers, Cthulhu Saves the World, and Breath of Death VII on Steam.
I've wanted Castle Crashers ever since Multipurpose Spam did their Spam Play of the Xbox version two years ago, and I got excited when I saw it released on Steam. I also bought both expansions (for the pink and purple knights). I'm playing as the purple knight because <3 purple.
I only got Breath of Death because I wanted Cthulhu Saves the World, but couldn't get CStW alone. I have played neither as of yet. I'll eventually remedy that, but not now. |
