Just enough Overwatch to qualify for the 9 arcade wins for the week's free lootboxes.
I also had this little gem happen. The world could always use more heroes! |

Posted by Googie Oh yeah I forgot about that game. I like the music in it a lot, it's real neat. Speaking of games with neat music I just started playing Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga today, I'm like an hour in now. It's pretty cool. ____________________ Giant Paratroopa Affected by 'Wooster Syndrome' ++++!! Handsome Gentleman 7/23/18 |

Been hitting a grind on Fallout Shelter. Daily and weekly quests are requiring me to keep sending out my strongest dwellers, putting the other quests on hold while they go clean up. The world could always use more heroes! |

Just a reminder. There is a separate thread for screenshots.
People running on mobile data may get a nasty surprise when opening this thread when there's a good 7MB of images on a page (which 6 months ago was 1.4% of my PAYG data allowance, or £0.70 outside it.) The world could always use more heroes! |

Been chipping away at Octopath Traveler. It's pretty good. My only major gripe is how seriously they take the "You are [protagonist]" at the beginning of the game. I picked H'aanit, discovered I hated her because her speech is Ye Olde Butcherede Englishe, and didn't know I couldn't cycle her out of the party until I wanted to kick her out for Olberic's chapter 1. The game said "You can't replace your protagonist". If I had realised that, I would have started as Ophilia or Primrose, because I actually like those two quite a bit.
I'm about 18 hours in, I've recruited everyone, now i'm starting on their second chapters. Primrose's was pretty easy after I figured out how to deal with Rufus' Pummel attack putting my party out of commission for upwards of four turns. Therion's boss killed all four of my party members in one shot because I didn't reduce him to Break quickly enough. I had sank a good 20 minutes into the battle, too. I spent a good hour after I reloaded going from town to town and stealing everything that wasn't nailed down (damn near anything with a 55+% success rate), I also went out of my way to save scum two 15% items (crescent knives, because they're the stinging knife's direct upgrade and the poison proc is fantastic). My team for Therion's chapter is: H'aanit level 21 with sub Apothecary (single target heals are nice, and Vivify is actually useful), Ophilia level 20 with sub Dancer (the cross-job knife proficiency is too useful to switch her off of it), Primrose level 16 sub Scholar (fire, ice, and lightning are nice, as well as having the ability to examine targets for HP tracking), and Therion level 18 sub Merchant (The Thief/Merchant combo is indispensable for support. BP recovery, SP refilling without using plums, then being able to huck it at the other party members is too good to pass up). EDIT: I think I should add that I only hate H'aanit's speech pattern. Her story is fair enough, and she's not horrible in combat (I don't like how Linde attacks randomly, both in attack type as well as target, nut all monsters you catch strike a random taregt, but at least they only give you a single fucking attack). I just hate the way she, and everyone from her hometown, talks. |

Posted by Googie I think it's supposed to be more like Commodore 64 graphics than Atari 2600 The font is even from the Commodore 64, but yeah, good call (in fact the most recent game I bought new... like 8 months ago) "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

Replaying Chrono Trigger, still one of my favorite RPGs of all time I was the one who introduced the late Taryn to it back in the day (I remember I was trying to help her through the game, she kept getting lost the first time ) "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

I already mentioned this on Jul, but I wanna revive this thread cuz it's a good thread, so have some non-Kafuka-exclusive content:
I'm playing Perfect Dark for the first time. My roommate's been pestering me to play it for the past 13 years (things that happened in the time that I've spent deferring playing Perfect Dark: 3 presidential elections (including Barack Obama's entire 8 years as president), Hurricane Katrina, the mortgage crisis and Great Recession, the death of Osama Bin Laden), me realizing I was trans, me coming out as trans, me getting on HRT (there's about a 4-year-gap between each of the last 3 events ), but I'm finally getting around to it!! The level design's some of the best I've seen in an FPS (I think of the FPSes I've played only Doom beats it, but then I haven't played Doom II or 64 ), and the graphics are really, really, realllllly good for an N64 game holy crap they're genuinely impressive. The only criticism I have is that the framerate is awful, which, duh. It does get a little problematic when you're in a hectic situation where like 10 people are shooting at you, which is like, the worst time for the framerate to dip. (There is, hilariously, a hi-res mode that makes the framerate even worse -- I might play around with it later, but no way in hell I'm trying it on my first playthrough.) But God is it fun in spite of that. I'm even going to go out on a limb here and say it's a massive improvement over Goldeneye, a pretty good but not amazingly great game. I also genuinely think Goldeneye is one of the ugliest games on the N64, so the fact that Perfect Dark is one of the best-looking shows how much Rare had honed their talents towards the end of the era. They really hit their peak around that time, and it's a shame they only had about 2 years left before they completely collapsed. Posted by DanikaAhhh, goddamn I need to play that again. I am REALLY aching for Chrono Trigger right about now, actually. I might have to buy the DS version soon... |

I've been hitting up Terraria a bit lately. I've been busy trying to farm up stuff as to have another shot at some of the bosses.
Also, the Angler's quests are sometimes impossible. Fish something from the corruption? Yeah.. Pass. That's impossible in my world. Been building a Minecart Rollercoaster while passing the time for the next day.. Just need to decorate it a little now.. somehow. The world could always use more heroes! |
