Doing this will cause the thread to be registered as "read", so it won't display a 'new' marker in the thread listing.
BUT. Even if you've marked all the other threads in that forum as read, there will still be a 'new' marker in the forum index. This is only solvable by viewing the offending thread (which is already marked as 'read') or marking the forum read. |

Addendum: this does not seem to have happened this time around. Perhaps it's been fixed secretly? Off-chance anomaly? Schrodinger's thread read state? |

I've noticed this too.. Just make sure you let it go back to the thread to insure it's market read.
It's a noted bug. It will be fixed when we change the board to go straight to the thread.
