Since we had a bit of a mess I decided to start fresh. Any suggestions for features and such for 2.5.4+ please submit them here for discussion!

Notes:
Suggestion doesn't mean implementation.
As of writing this e-mail I'm more focused on housekeeping so even if a feature may be considered it may not be implemented for a while.
As project manager I'll (unfortunately) have final go ahead on anything.

Pull requests are open of course.. but unless you've spoken to me first I will reject them more than likely. If it's a security patch those will be verified and accepted differently.
I've been burned a lot so I'm going to be super careful.

how about a Posts per page option solely for user posts page, as a link on the right, and then embedded into the page url?

I guess I don't understand.. You may need to go into a little greater detail.. but what I think you asked was to have as adjustable posts per page when viewing all of the user's posts?

Did you mean the postsbyuser.php? page.. or (more likely?) Show posts?

Well you can manually adjust the show post by adding: &ppp=#

Example: https://board.kafuka.org/thread.php?user=1&ppp=2

Is that what you meant?

Ahh okay. I'll keep the suggestion in mind. It depends a lot on if others would find it useful. The big advantage is nothing is in that part of the page. (One of my things is being particular about cosmetic changes.. since I'd rather keep that frozen until the backend is a bit nicer)

Actually the perm system blocks calendar. So it could block memberlist. But memberlist is something we want say the wayback machine to crawl.

Then it might be expanding the bots detection system.

I'm thinking of a system like:
* Bots can be easy-access: Wayback Crawler, Slackbot, Discordbot, etc.
* Medium access: Googlebot, Bing, "good bots"
* Restricted access: Ahrefs, Semrush, Unidentified bots.

This level of access thing could be achieved by expanding the current bot access system which just looks for a hit currently.

Indeed. That's kinda what I was thinking. The perm system will still have overall access control (and authority over the whole group), but a secondary control system seems like a must buy for todays 'too many bots' lifestyle.

At the very least isbot() just isn't strong enough lol. (ispineapple() is required )

I think this is a good option to look into. I'm used to fuzzy searching by name order.. but I guess that's due to my old school ways. It could be nice to have as a QoL thing.

A thought in mind.. we're getting more css all the time to replace legacy code-based solutions with browser-based ones..

Maybe it's time to see what would be needed for mobile support?

We are getting close to that point. We'll never be responsive or any of that stuff but there are things in css we can leverage for dynamic rendering for mobile. We may need to look at tweaking a few things layout wise.. and of course code wise. I too wonder how feasible it would be (without breaking it for normal browser users)..

we could use a thumbnail [imgs] tag...
what it does is restricting the size of the linked image as well as putting it in a link tag to the same URL.

If someone wants to add this I won't object. As Epele said we do have safeguards in place on the normal img bbcode.. but it doesn't create a thumbnail size or 'click to enlarge'. I end up doing that manually for my posts as I rarely use bbcode. Could be useful for sure!
