We live in a time of crisis. Each cruel day that passes, we struggle to beat back that ultimate contagion of contagions, human suffering. The idyllic era of suburban bliss, infinite possibility, technology as a benefactor and as something exciting, has been washed away by corporate technocracy and violence, a humanity jaded. The world, now reduced to ruin and famine due our collective complacency, the rampant and insatiable greed of the cruelest of our kind, and the taking for granted of this planet's most precious gifts, only has two constants: 1. Jeopardy! will always be on TV. 2. It will always be hosted by Alex Trebek. Human beings crave the infinite. It is not enough for us to let things rest in peace. We have taken from his grave the corpse of Alex Trebek and, using the technology that binds us to our grim, bleak fate, revived him. He yearns for the long sleep, but it is never granted to him, tired, oh-so-tired. There are no Gods left to blaspheme against, and there is only one mantra left:

THIS. IS. JEOPARDY!

Hi welcome to my game show thread. Marzen64 was running one of these, once upon a time, but she seems to unfortunately have disappeared from the face of the forum and the last thread seems to have stagnated. Thus, I'm taking it upon myself to start one of these — I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes by doing so! If she comes back from the dead and suddenly wants to run this again, I'd be happy to hand control back over to her.

If you wanna join, reply saying so! I need three contestants. It's first come first serve, so the first 3 people to reply will be the ones who get to be in the game. If you don't get in, don't worry — I plan to keep this game moving along quickly to the best of my ability, so hopefully you'll get a chance next game.

Da Rules

1. To sign up, just post in this thread saying you want to sign up.

1b. You can optionally provide a small, monochrome image of your name in handwriting. You do not have to do this to join; it's just a for-fun thing that I thought would add flavor to the game. Two colors only, try to keep it no wider than 160px, and no JPEGs, please. It's recommended you use Microsoft Paint or something similar.

2. The person who gets first pick will be decided randomly. After that, the person who correctly answered the last question has pick. To keep the game running smoothly, if someone has pick and doesn't pick a question for 3 days, I'll decide the question (probably through a semi-random method or by picking the lowest point value in the last chosen category).

3. There's no buzzing in, so you can just post your answer as soon as a clue is posted. If no one submits an answer within three days of the clue's reveal, the answer will be revealed and nobody will score any points. Control of the board is returned to the player that last correctly answered a question. (I've come up with a method to *hopefully* give contestants besides the one that has control a chance to answer the clue. It's going to be a bit of an experiment, but I'm hoping it will work?)

3b. You may optionally choose to announce a pass after a clue is given. If all three players pass, the answer is revealed and no points are awarded regardless of if 3 days have passed or not.

4. There will be two rounds, one with point values doubled ("Double Jeopardy!"), like the actual show. This is a bit of an experiment — if this keeps the game running too long, I might streamline it so that there's only one round. A Jeopardy! round ends when all questions are exhausted, and might end sooner if it ends up going on for too long.

5. Yes, there's a Daily Double on the board (and there will be two in Double Jeopardy!). If you get it, you can wager anything from $5 to your maximum score or the highest value available on the board, whichever is higher.

6. There will be a Final Jeopardy! round, too. A clue will be given and you have to wager a point value (anywhere from 0 to your maximum score) — PM me with your answer and wager (do not post it in the thread). After 3 days of having gotten at least one wager, Final Jeopardy! ends and the answer is revealed, regardless of which contestants have finished their wagers.

7. Technically, answers should always be in the form of a question (generally "what is..." or "who is..."), but I'm probably not going to enforce this too heavily.

8. Don't cheat. Cheating's not very fun, and if you do it you're a bad person and a meanie. Besides, there's nothing to be won here (no actual cash prizes will be awarded, duh) and this is all just for fun, anyway.

9. Nothing's set in stone. I reserve the right to do anything that keeps the game fun and fair and moving along.

Contestants:

$4000 $9400 $3800
Danika

Yay! We have a game!

Here are the categories. Hālian won first pick. (method: 6-sided die roll rolled a 5, 1,4 = Nicolyn, 2,5 = Hālian, 3,6 = Danika) So it's Hālian's turn to choose a spot on the board!
