This means that it's some sort of massive gamma ray burst, the energy of which requires a literal supernova to produce. So a planet couldn't do it; they'd have to destroy an entire star (one larger than the sun) to destroy us. So let's try not to piss off the aliens that badly? 2) The faraway planet's weapon is slower than the speed of light. Interstellar distances being what they are, we'd probably know the weapon was coming literally a century before it hit, giving us plenty of time to figure out how to deflect it. So I wouldn't worry. |
