Like I don't know, there's probably no good definition but that one seems reasonable to me? Like if you want to distinguish between someone who watched Star Trek and said "oh, that's cool" and made a mental note to watch the movies sometime vs. someone who watched Star Trek, immediately started binge-watching, spending all day reading Memory Alpha, and writing self-insert fanfic... Though I guess the concept of a "true fan" can be kind of annoying when people use it as an excuse to exclude others, that's not cool |
