It's actually an interesting question... I guess you'd still have BBSes, which might be easier to access if the era of unlimited calling still comes into existence, but still are going to be limited to a fairly technical audience and to 56k speeds.

Text messaging will still exist, and maybe enterprising entrepreneurs will create social networking services that leverage the cellular network- but they'll be phone specific and might even be network-specific, (imagine Facebook, but controlled by Verizon) which would limit a lot of their appeal.

Palm would be a lot more successful, I'd expect- their whole original concept was based on "nomadic computing" where your device doesn't have access to the mothership network while out on the road- they struggled when the paradigm became "always-connected"...

This actually kind of warrants its own thread.

Amusingly I did change my layout quite a few times in that period, but ended up going back to this one when I had gotten tired of my other layout but wanted a change.

I haven't been able to find many good pictures of Nei to make another layout of her...

The warm weather left again.

High 40's-low 50's all day. I was out late (I just got home, in fact ), and my walk was accompanied by just the slightest amount of rain, because that was really what the night was missing.

Another miserable day in Boston... (well, weather-wise at least )
