I would like to open up my thoughts to the group, and get your input. Keep in mind anything in this won't be happening for some time, but when I get the time to act I would like to know what's on everyone's mind.

Right now the "Nolimitzone" network is basically been left in a broken but functional state for 3 years or so. I've been hesitant to do anything since it's not my network as it's not my network, but I think the time is come do something.

To be honest IRC is a low priority for me these days. I don't talk much of anyone lately.. and I really need to be managing and running less things. So when it comes down to it we have a few options:

1. No official IRC - Just Discord.
2. We Move the Channel to an existing network. I have one offer I can ask on and I would likely go with that one. The network would need to allow at least two bots from same IP.
3. I can build a small IRC server for it.. but I would likely not want to do this option for given reasons above.


There are other options.. and I am open to them, but keeping on the current setup is not on the table. Eventually we have to do something. I leave this for you to discuss. Have Fun!

How has the winter (or summer if you live in the southern hemisphere) been treating you?

It's been right on freezing here.. heh. Lots of ice.

Vinyl. I have a small collection. It brings back memories. I don't have as many in the retro gaming collection anymore. I had to pick my space battles..

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to make a tough decision. Currently, (as I am writing this) in 6 days the VPS that houses akaneiro is going to be forcibly rebooted. The services are not able to be made to come up automatically as they are broken and takes a lot of work to keep them running. I just do not have the time to keep maintaining them. They are not even mine to maintain.

Looking back IRC is very underused for chat. When the bridge was fixed it perked up a tiny bit but it looks like all the conversation is on Discord at this time. Sadly I need to look at how we are operating and while I know it sucks to close something down.

TLDR:

For now this means:

1. Unless Maddie restarts her end of the server, only kuro will remain active. There will be no services.
2. For the short term at least we will not have an official #kafuka IRC channel. I don't think we actually need it. (If you wish you start alternative rooms feel free and link them on your profile!)
3. I don't have the time to start a new IRC network, but for the short term I have created an 'echo chamber' for the bridge and Nyonya to talk so we can have the bot still perform it's functions on discord. So we'll still get all the posting notifications.

For the long term, I'm not on IRC that much anymore. I cannot manage a channel or network as well as we need. So we'll see.. it's not outside the realm of possibilities.

For the non #kafuka channels: Techman's network is a good one to give a go. He seems earnest and it's well managed. That would have been my first choice if I was more on IRC. I honestly thing you should move off nolimitzone regardless of whether it's up or not.

I'm just not able to manage other people's spinning plates on top of my own. It also seems that Discord is pulling the weight for us. Sorry to be so blunt and make a decision, even with the input you have all provided me. IRC is basically ignored and that's not a good thing. Again I hope you'll take the chance to explore IRC make other channels. That way those who hate discord still have a place. Remember you always have the forums as well..

and.. in over a month and a half I'll be 41.5.. Geeze time is so fast.

Indeed.. Things these days are so focused on being a small community of a larger service.. Independent sites are a rare breed. Sorry we're full of dust and cobwebs but feel free to make yourself at home and enjoy your stay!
