i used to have a superstition that whatever i did over new years would dictate how the year went. as i spent a few years trying to influence my years with what i did over new years, and nothing changed, i realized it was bullshit. it was pretty fun going into 2020 dancing and listening to MCR though

i've become more spiritual as of late, if that counts...

Built my computer last year for some reason.

CPU: Intel i5-8600K
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB
Memory: 16 GB
Storage: 250 GB SSD, 1 TB HDD
OS: Currently on Manjaro, with XFCE

Overkill for my computing, since I mostly draw/write/surf. But for when I want to play GTA V (really the only bigboy game from this decade I like) then it works great.

Several things changed here. The 1TB HDD was replaced with a 1TB SSD, and the GPU was replaced with a GTX 1050 2GB (a downgrade). I don't remember the details, but it was a weird time, moving across the country and back soon after this was posted...

I'm about to move again, so the desktop's being left behind with family for now. I got a MacBook Pro as a hand-me-down recently, which I'll be taking with me:

CPU: Intel i7-3720QM (4 cores, 2.6 GHz)
GPU: HD Graphics 4000, GT 650M
Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Storage: 500 GB SSD

It's the first Retina model, from 2012. It can run up to Mac OS 10.15, and it does most everything I want it to do.

I started being Kaj in 2019 after I remembered an infamous user on Scratch back in the day with the name. I thought it was a cool name, so then it became my name, and it stuck.

Rachael became my girlname in 2020 because it's cute and I knew a girl growing up with the name. I felt ashamed for a while but then I learned it wasn't uncommon for trans girls to take names from old friends :P

and now that i'm living with my girlfriend, we're sharing her PC, which has these specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 (6 cores, 12 threads, 3.40 GHz)

Pale Moon, with uMatrix to block everything ever. Once things are configured it all works well, and I can feel a bit more relieved than with Firefox. Firefox is corporate disguised as privacy-friendly.

the fuck was wrong with me here

i use chrome most of the time. i spend a lot of time applying for jobs online and medical/government websites, which very very often do not function in firefox, let alone old ass versions of it
