Famicompo, if you don't already know, is a cool NES music competition that happens almost every year. I submit covers (I'll submit originals one day..), and I entered the very first one, Mini Vol 2 (iirc), and Mini Vol 7 (with some VRC7 covers). I usually just stick to stock 2A03 with no expansions (2 pulse channels, noise, triangle, DMC), and I plan to do so for this year's entries.
I sort of forgot about Vol 8 after waiting for the announcement for a while. The deadline is the end of January. I have one or two songs in mind, but I would like to try to submit to the limit this time around (I believe it's still 5), so this thread was to open up to cover requests (but no concrete promises ). So, what would you like to hear on the NES? Can be absolutely anything... |

These are features I only use on laptops. My desktops stay on, all the time.
For my work laptop (a Dell Latitude E6400) I will hardly ever use Hibernate, only if I know I am going to turn it off for very long periods ( more than 3 days), otherwise I simply use Stand By (sleep mode), as it will last several days without power in that mode. Stand by is more reliable for me as Hibernate more often than not gets corrupted.. For my MacBook Air, it sleeps when I close the lid, and also lasts several days in that mode. However if it is about to die out it is smart enough to hibernate itself. I don't need to worry about losing stuff at all (and the hibernate has never corrupted on me). Best thing I like about it is the near instant connection back to the Wi-Fi network thanks to that SSID/DHCP caching thing or whatever it does. So yeah, Stand By/sleep for me on portables, faster "boot" time and it is reliable. |

Sublime Text 2 , for both Windows and OS X.
For a ton of reasons.. it does everything Notepad++ did for me and much more, it's cross platform and in a way that it feels native on both platforms. Great plugin system. It looks nice, but is not bloated and not overwhelming.. Uses the TextMate syntax files, and it isn't too hard to come up with a custom one at all. Oh, did I say that it's awesome? On Office applications.. I can't use any spreadsheet program except Excel because my muscle memory is ingrained into it, any slight variation of behavior throws me off.. |
