I've never had caviar, but I bet I'd like it.

So a few days ago I got a Wii U, only to be disappointed with the SD image quality, and so I decided to get an HDMI-to-VGA adapter, as my weird tiny drugstore TV bafflingly supports higher image qualities but only over antenna or VGA.

Anyway, they didn't have that, but somehow I now have a 40" HDTV. It has consumed my video game nook

...do you think it would be sacrilegious to store my Super Famicom on the ground?

40" TV? Geeze.

I'm happy with my 22" TV. I wanted a bigger one at 26".. but uh. That didn't have native 1920x1080 resolution.

Yeah, I ended up with this TV because the smaller TVs all came with 720p as max resolution, and I figured if I was being crazy enough to buy a TV when I started wanting an adapter, I'm not going to get one without all the trimmings

...well, I didn't go crazy enough to go 4K.

I ended up going out this Halloween after all... (well, it was a party on 11/1)

But replying to this thread was apparently too much to ask.

At first I thought this would be about DLC, hehe...

I don't know, I think I dislike "pay-to-unlock" because for one in online-games, "pay to win" hardly seems as fun (of course you have to pay to win in the other system too, but at least you're paying with your time to be better at the game), and even in offline games (which is where I spend most of my gaming time ) it can discourage developers from leaving those things as fun little extras that are unlockable through various displays of skill at the game.

I think in general the micro-transaction model has made the landscape of mobile gaming quite a bit less fun than it should be; so many of those "free-to-play" games are just carefully crafted to wring as much money out of the player as your average slot machine (no seriously, it's about hitting the very same points in human psychology- there are some fascinating articles out there).

Granted. She only gets up for fifteen minutes each day to eat, then sleeps all day and can't be woken.

I wish I wasn't so easily made sickened by foods.

Console: NES/Famicom, or in the modern-day race Wii U
Game I'm looking forward to: I think I'll say Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Countries threatening each other with conventional war is also a bad thing. In some sense nuclear war is just more efficient at the same outcome.

Yeah, the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki ended WWII and Operation Downfall was projected to have at least 1 million American deaths and 2 million Japanese deaths, but weapons of mass destruction are an extremely dangerous thing.

I have some concerns about whether the atomic bombs were truly justified, but that's a complicated issue.

And weapons of mass destruction are dangerous, but not all of those are even nuclear...

Thankfully, I don't know of any time the rail authority here has had a strike... though that might just be because the authority always gives in to demands
