I sold the 1000HX awhile back because I couldn't get ZZT to run on it

The Color Computer 2 I still have but it's in a box under my bed until I figure out how to either composite mod it or get an RF demodulator.

I'm not sure if I've ever had an encounter with Mastodon prior to tonight. After watching that video, I'm still not entirely sure what the advantages of it are supposed to be aside from the whole "open source / decentralized" thing. Then again, I might just be a little slow today, so I won't bother anyone to explain it again to me (yet).

It's an interesting concept, though. I may have to check it out myself

The "open source / decentralized" thing I think is the whole idea; it seems that every large social media company tends to go evil eventually-- look at twitter with their algorithmic timeline and how they changed their positions on third-party clients, look at Facebook and their, well, everything... Tumblr and their confused series of corporate owners who have no idea how to run it, etc.

The idea is that by allowing small communities to interact, you can get the benefits of social media without the downsides, because no one is trying to build a billion-dollar company off of your posts. And yeah, there are features that Mastodon does better than twitter-- Content warnings, less mangled image uploads, etc.

So I think it's definitely worth a try! It's been there long enough that there are users out there and people to follow; the user discovery can be a bit harder than twitter though. (That's where I think the broad timelines are genius)

I don't really drink beer, but I've had Blue Moon and if I have to have a beer I wouldn't mind it.

Give me a nice cider (Bantam Rojo is a particular favorite) any day, though.

So, famously, Gene Roddenberry wanted to make Star Trek II about the USS Enterprise stopping time travelers from preventing the JFK assassination, ending with Spock being the one to actually shoot him.

Star Trek II came out in 1982, 19 years after the JFK assassination. Since he was dumped from the planning early on, we can probably say that we're now at the rough cultural moment equivalent of Gene Roddenberry wanting to make a Star Trek movie where Spock does 9/11.

No wonder they kicked him off the movie

I caught Moira; she's my usual go-to character in Overwatch so I'm glad to finally get her.

I've had better luck with Touhou games on keyboard than a controller, at least. Not sure that universalizes.... Silpheed is much more fun with a controller than keyboard, for example.

There are two options I can think of:

1. The Atari 2600, which had "Keyboard Controllers"
2. The Wooting series of "analog keyboards", that appear to the OS as both a USB keyboard and a USB controller
