♥13281 ✿4735 ★68 Posted by DarkWitchClaire Eh, he's fairly picky; for awhile he wouldn't eat salmon though now he will-- not really different than normal cat pickiness afaict |

♥13284 ✿4735 ★68 Posted by ゼンガー・ゾンボルト My ex used to love to eat cheddar with peppers embedded around him-- he loves cheese, but got so offended when he realized someone had made this cheese spicy Posted by Danika I don't know if it's bad for cats-- but an almost-exclusively meat-eating animal has no reason to develop a taste for spicy food, so cats generally will react in the admittedly fairly reasonable "this causes me pain and I don't want it" |

♥13285 ✿4735 ★68 Posted by DarkWitchClaire Conditioning works on pretty much anything with a brain as far as I know... maybe it needs to be a vertebrate brain or even a mammal brain, but cats are mammals so that's not a big concern |

♥13286 ✿4735 ★68 Posted by Danika Milk; he was going after my cereal so I gave him some of his own (minus the cereal) Posted by AtomicAstro Posted by DarkWitchClaire I learned on Twitter that cats haven't recognized the legitimacy of any human government since the fall of Cleopatra VII. |

♥13287 ✿4735 ★68 Posted by Danika And super-fast, too-- that's how they always land on their feet, because they can do the three-dimensional force calculation on how exactly best to adjust their body. Now, some scientists probably think that's "instinct" and not "deliberate calculation", but scientists say lots of things Posted by AtomicAstro I feel like Dexter would constantly be saying "give me food, bitch" which would probably make him a little less endearing Posted by DarkWitchClaire He likes to follow people into the bathroom and just sit down and stare at them while they do their business. But try to do the same to him when he's on the litterbox, he hates it |

♥13288 ✿4735 ★68 Posted by DarkWitchClaire Now that we've gotten rid of the Space Shuttle, spaceships mostly fly themselves. So I guess you might as well have a cat instead of a human play the role of "spam in the can". Posted by Danika I'll go with the Canon Cat, it's more an oddity... And I'm definitely going with the Cat if it's the one from my blog post Posted by ゼンガー・ゾンボルト That's not canon! |

♥13289 ✿4735 ★68 Posted by DarkWitchClaire The canonicity of cats is itself non-non-canon. Posted by Danika The PET 2001 had no speaker, so no But people modded them with one... but if you count mods you can do whatever, someone could wire a Raspberry Pi to the PET's serial port, doesn't mean you can run lynx on a PET |

♥13290 ✿4735 ★68 Posted by DarkWitchClaire Hm; I figured there was no reason you couldn't run an IRC client on an Apple ][, but what I found are using a "serial to modern computer" hack, so doesn't count... If we allow that, then the winner is probably some Intel 8008-based terminal, which really doesn't feel fair. (I doubt the Intel 4004 was used in anything capable of even serial bridging to IRC) So, ugh, the 1981 IBM PC might be it. Sadly it predates the 68k machines. Why am I so disappointed? The PC is bor-ring! Now, of course, that's talking about microcomputers. Dunno any reason why early UNIX computers ("boxen") couldn't run IRC clients, but the PDP-11 and its ilk didn't have single microprocessors like the tiny machines did, they all had "central processing units" that were composed of multiple chips as far as I know. EDIT: Okay the General Instrument CP1600 from 1975 was a single-chip implementation of most of the PDP-11, so if the PDP-11 can run IRC, then the CP1600 probably can and would have good odds of being the oldest-- but I can't find any evidence the CP1600 was used in any computers, just Honeywell controllers and, somewhat oddly, the Intellivision |

♥13291 ✿4735 ★68 Just played through Ranma 1/2: Toraware no Hanayome; this game is a digital comic for the PC Engine CD, and it's the first in the genre I've played. Was good language practice; I've been trying to dust off my Japanese and get better at it.
I have mixed feelings about it. For one thing, it was really fun to go through! I'm a big fan of the Ranma 1/2 franchise, the story was silly and fun, the art was great (the fact that the standard CD-ROM2 sucks at FMV actually gave it a unique feel, since they couldn't just fall back on the anime). But the thing is, it never really felt like... a game? Like the closest it got to a game was basically "choose the options in the right order, or we'll wait until you do". Even the visual novels I've played generally have more game elements, at least multiple endings or a losing condition. |

♥13299 ✿4735 ★68 Posted by Danika Never heard of her before... But yeah, she's cute! Posted by AtomicAstro That's a hard one, with all the games that have gotten a western release lately! Even Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire has one now... I'll say Knight Move on the Famicom Disk System; it's not a text-heavy game, but it's a fun puzzle by the creator of Tetris and yet I think it's never made it off that console add-on! Amazing, I've definitely sunk a lot of time into it. Posted by DarkWitchClaire Rockman and Forte: Mirai kara no Chousensha. Though to be fair it's the only Wonderswan game I've played. |
