I wasn't able to watch the conference either (I had class right at 6), but read some of the articles on the phone... the key points seem to be:
1) x86
2) Sony really likes internet streaming of games now
3) Share button on the controller woo it's so exciting
4) They never actually showed what the console looked like.

Have you ever had a complete layout made, but scrapped it at the last minute do to a spark of creativity in another direction?
