Now you're just moving the goalposts. This exchange started by looking at the difference between SMB and NSMBW. Every Mario game tends to gradually build upon the precedent of the previous ones; taking the best elements and expanding on them over time with tiny innovations here and there.

It may not be exactly this, but 8-Bit Universe is the closest thing I've found to what you're talking about in terms of sheer song volume.

Good question. MK64 comes to mind for being the first to capture the vibe of a super long endgame magic track. The MK8 remake of the 64 track comes close, but misses out on not making the player run laps on the whole track.

You may not see them, but the changes are there, albeit incremental ones. And it makes sense that subsequent games would feel similar to one of the most popular games in history. This inculdes other sidescrollers too. If you're an industry leader, the rest of the world is just trying to play catch up.
