Posted by Swingball By vinyl, we are referring to records, an analog audio storage medium consisting of large, finely grooved vinyl discs. When these discs are played on a phonograph (aka record player) at a certain speed, they can reproduce a sound recorded on them, most commonly music. Records became one of the earliest mediums for selling and playing popular music at home. Because of their historical and nostalgic value, many bands even today will release their music in vinyl record format as collectors items, resellers still value them as cool retro items, and much of the vocabulary from the early music industry (records, albums, LP, etc) continues to be used commonly today. |
