also, I don't want to see an AB3 if it's going to cave in to modernity.

I don't know about Acmlm, but when you look at Jul's forum names, and compare to what they were in 2007 or 2008, you can see it's lost some... personality? the names feel more 'standard' and less 'we do our own thing'.

also, the inactivity of Acmlm and Emuz would result in there being p much no way that AB3 could get made fast, really

The spoiler issue is because of a change in iOS' handling of css.

It's rather a shame they did that, because they've obviously opted to drop support for standard, non-depreciated, css features.

This one isn't a board bug, but an issue with iOS. Apple are so greedy, they think they can re-write the standards.

Thankfully I managed to make a fix for the spoiler bug on iOS. https://board.kafuka.org/thread.php?pid=108703#108703
Now if only Emuz could add that fix to Kafuka.

3.0 should be a complete community rewrite with enough features to service more 'professional' and non-RH sites while having the classic AB feel.

3.0 would indeed be a total re-write from the ground up.

There's plenty of lessons in the code to be made when writing it again. Notably the username colour handling code.

That one was a mess. It actually took a while to diagnose why rendering times could take so long, or why the board used so many queries.

But testing the fix was easy, since one page in particular loads way more username lines than any other one on the whole board.

It's also reflected in the version numbers. 2.1 vs 2.5. The huge jump is because whole sections of code are re-written and some major functionality changes.
