Bullet hell games aren't exactly my thing so I never really gravitated towards them. But they do reach the "Kafuka Seal of a Approval™" in difficulty. I just find how it has so much love in the fan community you would think it had seasons of anime and hundreds of manga issues. Indeed. Just pictures alone, Pixiv has millions of illustrations under the Touho (kanji) tag. Not to mention places like wallbase has a fair amount too. It's neat to see how it's grown from simple PC-98 (and other systems later of course) sprites to fully flesh out characters with distinct personalities. I can't relate here, I heard Touhou music before I even knew Touhou. so I learnt about the game before being exposed to the lolkawaii fanbase.
Posted by Emuz for the personality thing, most of it is based on canon stuff. there's how they act in the games (free character choice means more dialogue) and with ZUN adding in detail through interviews and such, thier personalities are pretty much set in stone. fan works generally follow faithfully. I noticed we're very nearing 2000 threads. are we doing anything at all? |

I never ran into any SMW hacks using Tohou music. BUT I didn't play many of them. I guess I kinda dropped out of ROM hacking when that was the big deal. I'm not surprised due to the quality music.
