Posted by Gywall It isn't so annoying by itself, but it is in the Battle Tower, where you can't switch your Pokemon. This pretty much means that as soon as the enemy uses Double Team, you have already lost. |

I played the Ruby/Sapphire one, and that one definitely allows no switching. |

What do you mean by "You can't switch?" Of course you can switch your Pokemon, as long as you have one in reserve... Not that it helps when the opponent raises their evasion. You have to force them out with either Roar or Whirlwind, and good luck with that after even two DTs. |

Posted by Trelior I'm pretty sure there's no switching in the Battle Tower, I played that not too long ago. If switching was possible, you could just switch in a Pokemon with Swift or something. |

While it's true you can't switch between opponents on a KO, you can go into your party menu and switch at the cost of your turn. Just like in any other battle.
How did you not know that? |

Really, really. You're talking to a guy that dabbles heavily in the metagame... Switching is a necessity in most fights. Not to mention, if switching wasn't allowed, moves like Baton Pass (allows you to switch and pass stat bonuses to the new 'mon), Mean Look/Spider Web (Moves that prevent escape), and abilities like Magnet Pull/Arena Trap/Shadow Tag (switch prevention abilities) would have no purpose.
Isn't it cool to learn this stuff? |

With my newfound knowledge I'd need to assemble a new team. Before, thinking switching was impossible, I had to mangle together some sort of Swiss army knife as my first Pokemon. |
