I mean, I've seen it argued that an alien species, even though they'll be incomprehensible in most ways, will still have to know of physics, so maybe that would be an advantage for me? But the problem is, the language used to convey those physics will be completely different (can I even use a circle to represent an electron?), and any species that has interstellar travel obviously knows a lot more about physics than we do. (And even more than I do)
Plus, I don't know if demonstrating intelligence is the best idea- imagine a scenario "wait, these fuckers have brains? well, shit, that changes everything, better blow up the earth to stop them from spreading"... Plus I'd probably be terrified, so I'd submit to whatever indignities they wanted to force on me so I could just get back to Earth. If it became evident that I wasn't going back to Earth, then I might have to change policies... I mean, seeing an alien world would be amazing and all, but... |
