Ah yes. Then the abilities and moves like Telepathy and Protect make moves like Surf and Earthquake more lethal.. but aren't required for moves like Rock Slide or Muddy Water.
I'm not quite sure what Gamefreak saw in the design of the battle type.. but it kinda works.. but doesn't flow quite naturally to me.. Could be I'm just a fan of double battles. The world could always use more heroes! |

I really like double battles, in fact, I think pokemon XD have been the most innovated in-series game in the series for a long time!
Though, single battles hold that special place in my heart as the reason why I play these games. Triple battle and rotation battles are new concepts that I just don't quite think the games are tweaked enough for to use good. Admitly, I have a lot more faith in rotation battles then in triple battles. Frankly, triple battles messed up big time for me when you can't target which ever enemy you want. I know it adds more strategy and is logical, but I just don't think it makes for fun gameplay. ____________________ Broken layout got nuked. :v |

It would be the most amazing shit ever! By why not take it a step further? Make it possible to at any time start something like the C-Gear which will plop you online and you connect 50~ random trainers in your region who are also online.
Making it possible to agree to fight and trade with them, making the pokemon world seem more alive. Also, I want the return of secret bases from gen 3 (it was done badly in gen 4) which you could sync with any friend you have made by friendcode or interaction with online connection. Making it possible, like in gen 3, to battle that trainer in their secret base if you go to it. Furthermore, a joint world that render as you go, rather then a map screen. There is just SO MUCH POTENTIAL for console pokemon games. Which is why battle revolution was the ultimate insult to the franchise in my eyes. ____________________ Broken layout got nuked. :v |

That is an awesome idea to be honest.
Just been having some fun on the Battle Subway to grind a few more BP for an item.. I realise how much fun status problems can be.. although, I did lol at some freeze spree I had for a while. The world could always use more heroes! |

Posted by TrapsterAbout that... There are no sure-hit Ice- or -Fire type moves for Garchomp, Gliscor, and Froslass respectively.Posted by Trelior Also, Haze is learned by so few Pokemon it's not worth fucking your whole team over just for a countermeasure. Sure, Crobat is a good Hazer, but that move slot could be filled with something much more useful. Same goes for Rapid Spin, sure it rids the field of hazards, but it also has few viable learners. Again, Tentacruel and Starmie are good Spinners, but that slot is still better suited to other moves, more so because a Ghost renders it USELESS. |

I lost faith on anything past Gold/Silver/Crystal. Just too much shit to do. I played Sapphire, but I did not really enjoy it. |

I started losing interest in 4th Gen. Hoenn in 3rd turned a lot of people away, but the poor structuring of Sinnoh and its Pokedex turned me away... Not even the changes they made in Platinum redeemed it, because the updated third game shouldn't fix an underlying mechanic.
Sure, you didn't need the national Pokedex to trade "foreign" Pokemon in, because I traded from my friend's new game of Pearl to my new file of Heart Gold in a test of Starly for Rattata, and the trade happened, but both games had '???' in their number spot. That isn't the point, what is the point is that if you're going to include an unnecessary evolution to a Pokemon, make it available early on instead of going "OH HEY! BY THE WAY! MAGMAR CAN EVOLVE NOW!" in the post game. An great example is making the Pokemon evolve by making them learn a move that existed before, but they didn't have access to. Lickitung suddenly gaining compatibility with Rollout making it become an even more ridiculous cock slurp... giving Tangela and Yanma Ancient Power to give them bigger and dopier versions of themselves... Eevee, Nosepass, and Magneton now evolve at At context-sensitive locales... Seems like a load of ass-pull-a-palooza to me. At least the evolutions that made use of things that didn't already exist had some kind of validity behind them, even if the logic behind them was still fucking batty nuggets. EDIT: Added to the argument. |

Posted by TreliorActually, for Froslass, there's the option of Shadow Punch instead. Got to target the Ghost type instead. The world could always use more heroes! |

Posted by GywallYou have to remember that Shadow Punch is nigh exclusively learned by Ghost-types, and Froslass has damn good speed. You run the risk of getting a Shadow Ball upside your head before you get the chance to move, which undermines the whole thought.Posted by TreliorActually, for Froslass, there's the option of Shadow Punch instead. Posted by TreliorI'd say a healthy Dusknoir has a good chance of surviving a hit from Shadow Ball. Also, I've just remembered about Faint Attack. A dark-type move learnt by plenty of different things.Posted by GywallYou have to remember that Shadow Punch is nigh exclusively learned by Ghost-types, and Froslass has damn good speed. Posted by GywallBeing learned by a wide range of 'mons isn't very much in Faint Attack's favor, since Power 60 is hardly worth even a wispy fart in most cases. STAB or Technician barely makes the move passable by bringing it up to 90. Although, I suppose hitting hard isn't the point, because the logic behind it is that the attacker is so focused on making the hit that they can't punch quite so hard.Posted by TreliorI'd say a healthy Dusknoir has a good chance of surviving a hit from Shadow Ball. Trading power for accuracy can prove a benefit in some cases. I've won a few battles just 'cause the opponent decided to try to use Thunder or Stone Edge and get a miss..
60 power is passable if something backs it up. Typically STAB.. but Technician works too. The world could always use more heroes! |

I've run enough damage calculations to know that, even in high end tourney situations, attacks like Thunderbolt and its clones outperform their super powered retard forms. Not in overkill potential, but in the field of accuracy and the ability to easily one- to two-hit most things that take neutral damage.
The only time the beefy versions are truly useful is when they're bolstered by something, like Thunder and Blizzard becoming sure-hit in rain and hail, respectively. |
