Windows ME was notorious for crashes.

We had that OS at the family computer for a bit. It was phased out pretty quick.

Heh, I always thought it was funny how German would capitalize Nouns, even if they were not proper Nouns ;) (French I always thought the non-capitalization of proper-noun adjectives was weird, too)

Once when I was like 10 I was playing Sim City 3000 on Windows ME and the game crashed. The resolution got stuck at like 300 x whatever and it was impossible to change it back in the dialog. That was fun.

Also, Active Desktop Recovery

I'm just shocked that people are so obsessed with Caffiene! Theobromine is much more clearheaded and you don't even get the jitters at higher doses! go buy some Kola Nut and you will see what I mean ;)

yeah, when programs crash the screen resolution sometimes does not return to normal

I remember this when playing Speedy Eggbert. there was at least one time (not always though) when the screen resolution did not return to normal if the game crashed (and the game runs at 640x480).

I remember older MAME versions doing the same, which was even worse as back then by default the screen resolution would change to match the game's one. And all of those older games had some pretty low ones... >_>

oh, and the best alias I've heard of the Active Desktop Recovery was "that bright white shit with the button"

Isn't it amusing when some random company likes a tweet of yours? I remember how I tweeted about backup generators a couple months ago, then Generac actually liked the tweet ;) I wonder if it's a bot or actually someone looking at the #BackupGenerators hashtag on Twitter...

Heh I once jokingly acted like a defunct local cable company to Ninji on Twitter, asking for their Kayser Communications account number :P

I've gotten into the habit of replacing letters in company names so they don't notice >_>

Does there exist a USB internal floppy drive for a 3.5" bay? All I can seem to find are the ones where the actual drive uses a floppy connector and only the card reader uses USB...

C#! It's been C#, C#, C#, every day, all week. Maybe I need a break. For some reason, I can't help but feel magnetized to the books and tutorials. I want to learn more about it. Is this what being interested in something feels like? It's been so long, I wouldn't know for sure!

I should write more C# programs, that's been my favorite of the languages I've learned so far in college. Problem is effort. >.>

Got the Blu-ray drive working in my Mid-2012 MacBook Pro... VLC plays them pretty well under High Sierra :D (I don't think mine can run Mojave last I checked)

Meanwhile I can't get a working PPC Mac OS X Tiger install stick, and my CD copy of Tiger won't work :(

As for my 2011 MacBook Pro, I wish I could afford a Blu-Ray drive for it. (Or an external Blu-Ray drive so I can also use it with Moonglow.)

Huh I thought PowerPC was not capable of booting from USB? I do know FireWire can be booted on old Macs but there are hacks to get USB bootable on them

IIRC it is from the Option menu if it has USB 1.1 ports. Either way, it can be done through Open Firmware.

I'm suddenly really missing an old friend of mine and getting wistful and sad about it.

I dunno. It's weird. I didn't think about him much over the years we haven't talked, but I've been feeling weirdly nostalgic lately in ways that I couldn't quite piece together and I thought about it and I realized I've been missing this one person. I guess I learned a lot from him in general and really looked up to him and didn't realize until I spent some time distant from him with no way to really contact him... he used to have really contentious and inflammatory opinions but in retrospect I kind of realize how right he was about a lot of stuff. Plus I wasn't always nice to him and I wish I'd been nicer, I guess.

I don't know why I'm suddenly posting about this here, I just have nowhere else to get it out of my system really (it's too many thoughts for Twitter really) and I'm already here so I figured I might as well barf it out
