DVI is getting phased out. The reason for me running DVI for my monitor is that I can't run HDMI cable and still get a 1920x1200 resolution.

It's only been around for like a decade
It's not just DVI. VGA is also included in the phase-out. DisplayPort would be the replacement of the future, with higher bandwidth - good for higher resolutions and refresh rates.
