Hey I lost my fuckin notes with the answers in it (it was on my dropbox and then i was cleaning my dropbox and i thought i had another copy somewhere so i thought it was safe to delete but it turns out the only place i'd been storing it at all was dropbox) so this is probably dead now. rip. congratulations to all of you for being the winners, the only real loser here is me. kind of upset that i picked the name i did too i didn't know he was gonna be fuckin' diagnosed with cancer god damn it. here's the old shit:

We live in a time of crisis. Each cruel day that passes, we struggle to beat back that ultimate contagion of contagions, human suffering. The idyllic era of suburban bliss, infinite possibility, technology as a benefactor and as something exciting, has been washed away by corporate technocracy and violence, a humanity jaded. The world, now reduced to ruin and famine due our collective complacency, the rampant and insatiable greed of the cruelest of our kind, and the taking for granted of this planet's most precious gifts, only has two constants: 1. Jeopardy! will always be on TV. 2. It will always be hosted by Alex Trebek. Human beings crave the infinite. It is not enough for us to let things rest in peace. We have taken from his grave the corpse of Alex Trebek and, using the technology that binds us to our grim, bleak fate, revived him. He yearns for the long sleep, but it is never granted to him, tired, oh-so-tired. There are no Gods left to blaspheme against, and there is only one mantra left:

THIS. IS.
JEOPARDY!

Hi welcome to my game show thread. Marzen64 was running one of these, once upon a time, but she seems to unfortunately have disappeared from the face of the forum and the last thread seems to have stagnated. Thus, I'm taking it upon myself to start one of these — I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes by doing so! If she comes back from the dead and suddenly wants to run this again, I'd be happy to hand control back over to her.

If you wanna join, reply saying so! I need three contestants. It's first come first serve, so the first 3 people to reply will be the ones who get to be in the game. If you don't get in, don't worry — I plan to keep this game moving along quickly to the best of my ability, so hopefully you'll get a chance next game.

Da Rules

1. Contestant Sign-Up: To sign up, just post in this thread saying you want to sign up.

1b. You can optionally provide a small, monochrome image of your name in handwriting. You do not have to do this to join; it's just a for-fun thing that I thought would add flavor to the game. Two colors only, try to keep it no wider than 160px, and no JPEGs, please. It's recommended you use Microsoft Paint or something similar.

2. Pick of the Board: The person who gets first pick will be decided randomly. After that, the person who correctly answered the last question has pick.

2b. To keep the game running smoothly, if someone has pick and doesn't pick a clue for over three days, I'll decide the clue (probably through a semi-random method or by picking the lowest point value in the last chosen category).

3. Clue Phase: There's no buzzing in, so you can just post your response as soon as a clue is posted.

3a. After the clue is revealed, if one day (24 hours) passes without a response, the correct response will be revealed and nobody will score any points. Control of the board is returned to the player that last correctly responded to a clue.

4. Skipping: You may optionally choose to vote to skip after a clue is given. If all three players vote to skip, the correct response is revealed and no money is awarded regardless of if a day has gone by or not. Control of the board is returned to the player that last correctly responded to a clue.

4b. If a player has already given their answer and it was incorrect, then only the remaining contestants must agree to skip. If two players have answered incorrectly, the remaining player may choose to skip all on their own.
4c. In other words, skipping has the exact same effect as running out the timer; it simply shortens the waiting time.

5. Double Jeopardy!: There will be two rounds, one with point values doubled ("Double Jeopardy!"), like the actual show. A Jeopardy! round ends when all questions are exhausted, and might end sooner if it ends up going on for too long. Control of the board in Double Jeopardy! begins with the player who has the lowest money value.

6. Daily Double: Yes, there's a Daily Double on the board (and there will be two in Double Jeopardy!). If you get it, you can wager anything from $5 to your maximum score or the highest value available on the board, whichever is higher.

7. Final Jeopardy!: There will be a Final Jeopardy! round, too. The category will be revealed and contestants have to (privately) share their wager — PM me. A contestant that fails to give a wager within 3 days will automatically wager $0.

7b. After I get 3 wagers or 3 days pass, a clue will be given — PM me again with your response and wager (do not post it in the thread). After one day of having gotten at least one response, Final Jeopardy! ends and the answer is revealed, regardless of which contestants have finished responding.

8. Response Format: Technically, responses should always be in the form of a question (generally "what is..." or "who is..."). I'm probably not going to enforce this too rigidly, but try to keep to the answer-and-question format if you can.

9. Don't Cheat — this means no googling the questions, please. I know it's hard to prove, but cheating's not very fun, and if you do it you're a meanie. Besides, there's nothing to be won here (no actual cash prizes will be awarded, duh) except for bragging rights, and you can't really brag if you didn't answer the questions honestly.

10. Elastic Clause: Nothing's set in stone. I reserve the right to do anything that keeps the game fun, fair, competitive, and running smoothly.

Yay! We have a game!

Here are the categories. Hālian won first pick. (method: 6-sided die roll rolled a 5, 1,4 = Nicolyn, 2,5 = Hālian, 3,6 = Danika) So it's Hālian's turn to choose a spot on the board!
